"You can’t enter!"
Ruby looked up at the security guards who blocked her path.
Ruby’s assistant stepped forward, ’Don’t you know that she is the lead actress? What are you trying to do by blocking her path like this?"
"Sorry, these are the orders from above!" The security guard said coldly.
At this moment, a car stopped at the entrance. Dressed in a classic black suit, Esther alighted the car.
"This..." Ruby’s assistant looked back and forth, first at Ruby’s outfit then at Esther’s.
And seeing that they looked completely identical, her expression morphed into one of shock.
"How could this be... She..."
"Ah, you seem quite surprised. Could it be that nobody informed you?" Esther gasped, looking at Ruby in pity, "How can they do it? You were playing the female lead’s role before me, they should have had the basic courtesy of telling you that you have been replaced by me now!"
A crowd started gathering around the entrance, the people were more or less astonished by Esther’s declaration.
Surprisingly, when she stepped forward, the security did not stop her like they did with Ruby.
Ruby’s face remained indifferent as she looked at one of the security guards, "Inform the Director that I want to meet him."
"Hmm?" Esther turned around, "I can do you a favor instead, and let you tag along with me."
Ruby paused, her eyes narrowed slightly as she stepped forward, "Alright."
When they entered the place, the director’s gaze immediately shot to Ruby,a conflicted expression on his face.
But before the director could say a word, someone else moved.
Max, who was sitting on the VIP seat, got up and strode towards Ruby.
His gaze briefly met with Esther who gave him a teasing smile.
Max grabbed Ruby’s hand and dragged her to the side, "Why are you still here? Didn’t I text you about the situation?"
Ruby shook off his grip and pulled out her phone. And true enough, a text from Max was lying idle in the chats.
"I told you to prepare for our wedding and not bother about this anymore."
"When did I say I want to marry you?" Ruby looked up at the man calmly.
Max frowned, "Ruby, this has been a deal between both our families for a long time now. It wouldn’t be changing just because you want to back out now."
"If my marriage becomes a deal then I’d rather not marry."
Max pinched the spot between his brows, mildly frustrated as he looked at Ruby, "You have never been this unreasonable. What really... Forget it, if you think that by throwing a tantrum like this, you can change my decision, then don’t bother with it."
Ruby’s lips curled up in a cold smile as she took a step back.
Max paused, "What do you mean by that?"
"I am fine with not having this role as long as you do not show up in front of me again."
"Ruby, you..."
"Take a day off and go back to inform your parents that this wedding is off."
This time, Ruby’s voice was crisp enough and the people standing nearby caught her words.
