Ella fell into a daze when Rin nodded.
Ella remembered seeing Adrian through hazy vision. Did he bring her back to the Eve Mansion?
She glanced around the room and confirmed that it was indeed the Master Bedroom. Except for Adrian, who else would dare to bring her to the master bedroom?
While Ella was sitting there disoriented, the study was shrouded in dark clouds.
Ji Yan held Riri in his arms and stood by the side with his head lowered.
Occasionally, he would peek at the man who was sitting near the main desk of the study.
Adrian’s face was pale as a sheet, one side of his face had red traces of a handprint and his eyes were overflowing with bloodthirst. But in his hand, he held a work related file while a pile more sat on the desk.
The sight was so contradictory yet balanced. It looked like a demon sitting for meditation to tame his inner evil that was on the verge of being unleashed.
"Second Master, you have been working since last night without getting any rest...’’
Adrian calmly flipped to the next page of the file.
Ji Yan gulped and gently poked Riri.
On cue, Riri ’woof’ed twice.
A touch of frown flitted across Adrian’s face. Slowly, he raised his head.
The sight of his bloodshot eyes made Ji Yan’s legs tremble.
"Come here,’’ Adrian extended a hand towards Riri.
Without a hint of guilt, Ji Yan sold the puppy away and immediately passed it to the man.
Riri glanced at Ji Yan with its wide eyes.
Ji Yan touched his nose. Ehehe, Little master, you should try your best to uplift Second Master’s mood.
Adrian placed Riri on one thigh and switched his focus to work.
Under Ji Yan’s shocked gaze, the little envoy he had dispatched to please the King curled on the King’s thigh comfortably, without a care for the world or his mission.
Ji Yan’s lips trembled, eyes wide in disbelief.
’’What is it?" Adrian asked without raising his head.
"Second Master, Miss Yu’s kidnapping was done by that small gang. Our people have taken them down and their stronghold is also destroyed by us. Miss Yu is completely safe now. You should...’’
Adrian’s fingers that were flipping the page paused. He looked up at the man, ’’I should?"
Ji Yan opened his mouth, ’’Y-You s-should stop blaming yourself.’’
Adrian remained silent for a moment before he shifted his gaze to the file on the desk.
"Second Master, why don’t you stay by Miss Yu’s side for a while?"
Finally, a few icicles around the study seemed to crack and melt even though Adrian did not say much.
Ji Yan knew this was like quenching one’s thirst with poison but seeing that this method worked on the man, he no longer hesitated, ’’Second Master, Miss Yu has been unconscious for a night. She should be getting up anytime soon. And once she woke up, she would certainly look for you first.’’
Ji Yan paused, tracing for any change in the man’s reaction. Finding none, he still continued, ’’You have gone to such lengths to ensure her safety but her health would be affected if she panicked, not seeing you around..."
Before he could finish his words, a blur whizzed past him.
And just like that, Adrian was gone from the study.
Secretary Yu sighed in relief and quickly followed the man.
He just hoped that Ella slept for a longer period so that the second master could also get a wink of sleep.
But when he reached the Master Bedroom, he started regretting his life choices soon.
...
Ella was still piecing together the haze of last night when the door burst open. Adrian walked in with Riri in his arms.
