Reginald sipped his wine and confidently gestured for him to go

ahead.

Evan was even more intrigued by this young woman. He began with a few technical questions and then explained his vision.

After listening carefully, Adelaide calmly listed several proposal

ideas. “Mr. Murray, if you don’t like these suggestions, I can

draw up a few more for your consideration.”

Evan was impressed. “Mr. Thorton really has an uncanny eye

for talent. Ms. Pierce, you really are a genius designer. From

what you just described, I even get a hint of Alicia’s design

style.”

He continued, “Ms. Pierce, do you know Alicia?”

Adelaide smiled and said, “Mr. Murray, you flattered me. How

could I possibly have the chance to meet Alicia? But she is my

idol. I study all her works, so I’ve learned a lot from her design

concepts.”

“I see.” Evan nodded in realization.

Adelaide took a sip of water to hide her awkwardness. She

caught Reginald’s teasing gaze from the corner of her eye, but she pretended not to notice.

The rest of the discussion didn’t require her input, so she simply

listened.

After the meal ended and they saw Evan off, Reginald turned to

her and asked, “Where’s your car?”

Adelaide raised her hand and pointed. Reginald glanced over

and asked, “Are you heading back to the office, or do you need

to go handle your personal matters?”

The question made her slightly embarrassed. “Back to the

office.”

“Good. Give me a lift.” With that, Reginald had already started

walking toward her car.

Adelaide was going to ask him why he didn’t take his Rolls-

Royce, but she swallowed the words because she found no sign

of Nathan or the familiar Rolls–Royce.

Reginald took the passenger seat, and Adelaide got behind the

wheel and drove out of the Cherry Manor.

“Did you talk to him?” Reginald had pulled out a lighter and was

toying with it in his right hand.

He wasn’t hiding at all how much he hoped she’d get divorced.

Adelaide gave a light “Mm” in response.

He turned his head, clearly interested. “He agreed?”

She stayed silent.

Reginald narrowed his eyes, emotion unreadable, then

commented. “He wants to have it both ways, huh?”

There was a moment of silence.

“Adelaide, I don’t have that much self–control. Don’t push me

into being a homewrecker,” Reginald said out of the blue.

Adelaide almost slammed the gas pedal to the floor.

She turned the steering wheel hard. Suddenly, Reginald’s right

hand came over and grabbed hers, steadying the wheel.

He chuckled, “What’s wrong? Trying to stage a crash just to get

headlines saying I was in your passenger seat? Well, not a bad

idea.”

Adelaide shoved his hand away and snapped, “Reginald, can

you not joke around for once?”

With a smile still playing on his lips, Reginald slowly rubbed his

fingers and said, “If I had been serious, do you think you and

Garrett would’ve ever gotten married?”

Adelaide replied with forced calm, “Then I guess I should thank

you for not being serious.”

“You don’t have any sense of humor at all.” Reginald straightened up and changed the subject. “This design project from the Noventra Group is very important for both you and the whole team. Ms. Pierce, I hope you’ll give it your full effort”

The sudden switch in tone and topic nearly threw her off. Adelaide nodded. “Don’t worry, Mr. Thorton.””

“That means you’ll probably need to work overtime for the next two weeks.””

“I can do that.”

“My team doesn’t need to stay in the office when working

overtime. You can work from home.”
