Chapter 412

After two days of recuperating at home, Emily was back at work.

Just as she and Austin had planned, he was in charge of handling things about the academy, while she took care of the follow-up work for the Bennett Group takeover and began to fulfill the wishes left behind by Jackson and the rest of them.

Before all that, though, Emily went to the hospital to see Lydia’s body. To be honest, the fact that Lydia died just like that felt

unreal to her.

She had suffered so much because of Lydia, and Charles and Bob had both been killed by Lydia. Before Emily got her revenge, Lydia was killed by someone else.

Emily couldn’t quite explain that feeling, but she felt like the grudge and anger inside her still hadn’t faded away.

Emily stood there for a long time, just staring at Lydia’s lifeless, ashen body. In the end, she didn’t say a word and walked

out.

Seeing her about to leave, a staff member hurried after her. “Miss, the body has been here for quite a while now. Do you know when you’ll be making arrangements to have her taken away?”

Without even glancing back, Emily said, “That’s something her family should take care of. I barely even knew her.”

How ironic. The Bennett family used to treasure Lydia so much, but now that she’s dead, they couldn’t even be bothered to take her body away.

Emily heard that when the hospital staff went to the Bennetts about it, they turned up their noses in disgust and wouldn’t even let the staff in the door.

The Bennett Group’s stock price plummeted, and a lot of small shareholders started dumping their shares. Even some long- time business partners took this chance to bail.

Emily seized the opportunity to buy up those shares, both openly and behind the scenes, steadily building up her own power, bit by bit.

Andrew, who had been running the Bennett Group for years, picked up on Emily’s moves to buy up shares. But instead of stopping her, he used his own influence to help Emily.

Some people advised Andrew to do something and to be more wary of Emily. But he said with confidence. “We were wrong before. Emily has every right to be angry. It’s only right for me, as her brother, to make it up to her.

“Emily is my real sister, the true blood of the Bennett family. As long as she gets it out of her system, she’d never do anything to hurt the family.”

It took less than an hour for those words to conveniently find their way to Emily. She just snorted, turned back to her documents, and didn’t bother to react at all.
