CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
SILVER’S POV
I followed Dr. Grayson to the living room. He said he wanted to talk to me about something. I figured it was important, even though I had no clue what it could be.
I sat across from him and waited for him to speak. He looked at me, folding his hands.
“Have you felt anything from your wolf yet?” he asked, his brow furrowed in concern.
I shook my head. “No. Nothing. I still can’t feel him.”
He nodded slowly and gave me a soft smile. “Don’t worry, son. It’ll come. You just need to give it time. Your wolf will return when it’s ready.”
I didn’t respond. I just looked down at the empty spot between my feet. I wanted to believe him–I really did. But it had been days, and I still felt… empty. Like a piece of me was missing. And to make it worse, I didn’t
even know how to call out to him.
Dr. Grayson continued, “In the meantime, I think it would be good for you to stay active. Do something. Keep yourself busy instead of sitting around, worrying, and thinking too much. It helps.”
I nodded slowly. “Yeah, I’ve thought about that too,” I admitted. “But… I don’t think it’ll be necessary.”
He frowned. “What do you mean?”
I hesitated, then took a deep breath and looked up. “I’m planning to leave soon.”
“Leave?” a voice said behind me.
I turned around, and Dawn was standing by the doorway, her arms crossed and her face filled with concern.
I sighed. I hadn’t meant for her to hear that. From what I’d noticed during the short time I’ve been in this house, Dawn was quite a soft and emotional person. “Yeah,” I said, nodding. “I kind of have to, Dawn. I can’t just sit here and do nothing. I’m almost healed, so I want to get out there–look for answers. Find out who I
am.”
Dawn stepped forward, her eyebrows drawn tightly together. “And where will you go, Silver? Where will you even stay? In the woods? In a cave? Where?”
I shook my head. “I don’t know yet. But I’ll figure it out somehow.”
She let out a frustrated breath and looked at me like I was losing my mind. “Silver, you don’t even have your memory back. You don’t know where you came from, who’s out there, or what’s waiting for you. What if you get hurt again? What if something worse happens this time?”
I didn’t answer right away. Her voice was laced with worry, and I understood why. She and her mate had taken me in, cared for me when I was broken and injured. But no matter how kind they were, I didn’t belong here. I
wasn’t one of them. I needed to find my own place.
“Hon, please say something,” Dawn said, turning toward her mate. “Talk some sense into him. He can’t just up and leave with no memory and nowhere to go.”
Dr. Grayson sighed, his expression thoughtful as he looked at me. “Silver, she’s right. There’s no need to rush

into anything right now, You’re welcome to stay here for as long as you want. We’ve got more than space, and no one’s going to bother you here. You’re safe here.”
“I know,” I replied quietly. “And I really appreciate it. I mean that, Doc. But I can’t stay here forever, not knowing who I am or what happened to me. I need to try and find out.”
There was a long silence. Dawn sat down next to her mate, her tone growing softer. “Just… think about it a little more, okay? At least until you’re fully healed.”
Dr. Grayson nodded. “Exactly. Give it a bit more time. Stay until you’re medically cleared. Then, if you still want to leave, we won’t stop you.”
I thought he already cleared me medically…
I looked between the two of them. Their concern seemed genuine, and I couldn’t ignore the truth in their words either. Even if my body felt almost healed, I wasn’t sure if I was fully ready–physically or mentally.
After a moment, I gave a short nod. “Yeah, I guess you’re both right. Maybe I could really stick around a little longer.”
Dawn let out a small breath of relief and smiled. “Good. That’s good.”
She sat back on the couch, and Dr. Grayson leaned forward slightly.
“So,” he said, trying to change the mood, “if you’re staying, we should talk about what you’ll be doing with your time here.”
I shrugged. “I don’t know yet.”

He smiled. “Well, you could start coming with me to the hospital. Help out. It would keep you occupied, and ! could use the extra hands.”
I thought about it for a second, then shook my head. “I don’t think hospital work is for me. I was actually thinking about joining the warriors.”
That caught their attention. Both of them shared a look and then looked at me.
“The warriors?” Dawn repeated.
“Yeah. I don’t know why, but… something about that just feels right. Like I’d be more useful there. Besides, it
might help me recover more quickly if I’m training and getting stronger.”
Dr. Grayson nodded slowly, exchanging another glance with his mate. “If that’s what you want, we’ll support
it.”
“Definitely,” Dawn added. “Just promise you’ll take it slow and not push yourself too hard, okay?”
“I will,” I promised.
Dr. Grayson leaned back in his seat/ “Alright then. Be ready first thing tomorrow morning. We’ll go see Alpha
Gareth together and talk to him about it. You’ll need his permission before joining the warriors.”
“Got it,” I said, then mentally facepalmed. Alpha Gareth, he said? The guy doesn’t even like me. How is this supposed to work out exactly?
We sat for a few more minutes, just talking. It wasn’t anything serious after that–just & light comments about the pack, the weather, and how quiet things had been lately. I didn’t say much. I was thinking again. Thinking about what might be waiting for me outside these walls. Who I was before all this. If there was

someone out there looking for me… or someone I should be looking for.
When it was time to go, Dawn stood up and pulled me into a warm hug, I was still a little surprised, but i
hugged her back.
“Goodnight, Silver,” she said.
“Goodnight,” I replied.
Dr. Grayson gave me a nod. “Rest well, son. Tomorrow will be a big day.”
“Yeah. It will,” I said, then turned and walked back to the room.
As I closed the door behind me, I walked over to the bed and sat down, staring at the wall.
Even though I had agreed to stay, a part of me still itched to leave. It wasn’t that I didn’t feel safe here–I did.
But I didn’t feel whole.
And until I found the missing pieces of myself…
I knew I wouldn’t.
