Save the Tears for Someone Who Cares novel Chapter 18

Chapter 18

“He gave me a yacht as a gift recently. Can you help me sell it?” Jackly asked.

Since she had decided to leave, she wanted to sell everything that could be converted into cash. She needed the

money.

Unfortunately, her every activity was being closely monitored by Eugene’s men. There were a lot of things she could not do that might raise suspicions.

Liam readily agreed, “Of course.”

The division of assets between couples was necessary following a divorce. It was only right for Jacklyn to secure as much money as possible since it was Eugene who had failed her in this relationship.

“Thank you.” Jacklyn gave a sigh of relief.

After leaving the mall, she received a call from Eugene as soon as she got home.

“Jackie, I’ll wait for you at Serendipity.”

Serendipity was the restaurant where they had their first date.

Jacklyn snickered as she wondered what Eugene was up to this time. Eventually, she decided to go along with

whatever act he was trying to pull.

Jacklyn gave a slight nod. “Okay.”

She got to the restaurant shortly afterward and found that there was no one inside. There was only a waiter standing by the door to greet her. It appeared Eugene had reserved the entire place.

The waiter showed Jacklyn to the innermost private room. When she pushed the door open, she spotted Eugene leaning back in his chair and staring at his phone. He lifted his gaze when he picked up on the noise.

“Jackie, have a seat.” Eugene came up to her and guided her to an empty seat. He was being very caring and gentlemanly.

After she sat down, Jacklyn was presented with various romantic surprises Eugene had prepared for her, such as a bouquet, gifts, and even a live violin performance.

Jacklyn quietly observed how Eugene had acted as though he was deeply in love with her. That was until she noticed he was stealing glances at his phone from time to time.

There was a slight change in the bored look she had on her face.

She got up. Her lips curled.

“Interesting…” she thought.

Jacklyn put down her fork and knife. She reached for the box of tissues placed before Eugene while deliberately moving her hand over his phone.

In the blink of an eye, Eugene grabbed onto his phone and looked at Jacklyn warily. He reacted as though someone was trying to take his belongings away.

Jacklyn paused and beamed at him. “Relax. I’m not trying to take your phone. There’s no need to be so nervous.‘

Eugene seemed a little flustered as he realized he had overreacted. He quickly said, “You can look at my phone any time you want.”

Jacklyn smiled faintly as she watched him shove his phone to his pocket. Anyhow, it was not like she had no clue

about what he had on his phone.

Eugene felt relieved when he saw that Jacklyn had not suspected anything. The tension in the air diminished gradually.

With soft music playing in the background, he asked, “Jackie, do you not like the gemstone necklace I’ve given you during the engagement party? Why don’t I see you wearing it at all?”

Jacklyn made up an excuse. “I was rushing to head out earlier, so I forgot to wear it.”

Eugene immediately suggested, “Why don’t you give me the necklace if you don’t like it that much? I’ll give you something much better for your new present.”

Jacklyn seemed tired as she replied half–heartedly, “Okay. m feeling sleepy, so I’m going up to my room now.”

It did not matter to her whether she would receive a new gin or not. She simply wanted Eugene to focus all of his attention on Penelope so that she could find the opportunity to exact her plans.

She scanned the interior of the beautiful manor, where she was trapped in. She could hardly suppress the urge to flee from this place.

The next morning, Jacklyn heard Eugene calling her the instant she came downstairs.

“Jackie!”

He threw his arms around Jacklyn and held her tightly. His natural scent, which she found revolting, hit her.

Despite her reluctance, Jacklyn had to keep up the act of the loving wife.

“What’s the matter?”

“After we had breakfast, you should come with me to the office.” Eugene pecked her earlobe and inhaled deeply the nice scent coming from her hair.

Jacklyn paused briefly. “Why are you taking me to the office?”

He could not possibly want Jacklyn there to watch him and Penelope fool around in the office.
