Chapter 21
Jacklyn found Eugene’s request absurd and amusing. She tore her hand away from Eugene and stood up. “Get out.“.
Eugene’s expression turned a little awkward when he heard her steely voice and realized there was no room for discussion. He trod out of the room, looking gloomy and dejected.
He felt extremely frustrated as he looked at the closed door
A lot of things seemed to have changed ever since Liam appeared in their life. Jacklyn, who used to follow him around, started being cold and distant to him. She even decided to move out of their bedroom and stayed in the guest room instead.
Eugene’s eyes narrowed. He muttered, “Liam Robertson…”
A while later, he called Sammy. “Sammy, hire a private investigator and have them keep a close watch on my wife 24/7. I want to know her everyday schedule.”
“Understood.”
In the middle of the night, Jacklyn was fast asleep. Suddenly, she felt a strange sensation against her back. As she slowly regained consciousness, she sensed a pair of large hands sliding underneath her pajamas and feeling her bare skin.
“Who’s there?” she exclaimed. She swiftly sat up and flipped the lights on.
In an instant, the room was brightly illuminated. She found a topless Eugene. His face was flushed, and his eyes burned with lust and passion. “Jackie, I want you.”
Jacklyn was feeling a bit shaken. She got up and pushed Eugene away. “I’m feeling a bit unwell today.”
It seemed like her words could not reach him. Eugene pulled Jacklyn into his arms, leaned closer to her face, and blew gently against her ear. “Jackie, it’s been quite some time since we last slept together. I missed you terribly.”
He pressed his lips against hers the next instant. Jacklyn’s lips were so soft and sweet that it felt as though they would melt in his mouth like marshmallows.
Eugene slid one hand under Jacklyn’s shirt. He used the other hand to move Jacklyn’s hand downward.
Jacklyn stiffened when she felt something hard against her palm. The images of Eugene and Penelope fooling around in bed came to mind at that moment. She almost gagged as she was instantly filled with disgust.
“No!” She used all her might to push Eugene away.
However, Eugene refused to give up and continued to press his body against her.
He held onto Jacklyn’s hand. While he tried his best to hold back his urges, he explained patiently, “Jackie, you have to understand this. We’re a married couple, and this is one of the rights I have as a husband. Can you please not push me away all the time?”
He leaned in and tried to kiss her again.
Jacklyn turned her face away. She did not want to see his face, which she found off–putting.
She inhaled deeply and pushed against his chest with both hands. “I’ve said I’m not feeling well. Are you still going to force yourself on me, Eugene?”

Eugene’s face darkened when he received Jacklyn’s firm refusal.
His tone was frigid as he asked, “Are you refusing my advances because you’ve fallen in love with someone else?”
Jacklyn scoffed.
Did he think that she was being unfaithful just because that was the case for him?
“No.”
Jacklyn did not want to waste time arguing with him. She gave a little cough and said, “I caught a cold after falling into the pool the other day. I’m still recovering from it. The doctor told me to get enough rest and avoid doing any rigorous exercises for the time being.”
Eugene felt remorseful when Jacklyn mentioned the pool incident.
He hugged her and patted her back gently. He said softly, “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have doubted you. Still…”
What was she thinking? Liam was helping her now for old time’s sake. He could not possibly harbor any special feelings for her.
She sounded much calmer as she regained her composure. “Don’t worry. I’m all good. I’m getting sleepy, so I’ll turn in for the night first.”

She hung up after saying that.

On the other hand, inside one of the private rooms at a bar, Liam stared at his phone screen, which had turned dark. He knitted his brows as he was overcome with worry
He wondered what that was just now. Why did Jacklyn suddenly sound so cold and distant?
“Liam, stop looking at your phone! Isn’t it much better to look at me than to look at a cold, emotionless machine?
A lady in a skimpy outfit sat on Liam’s lap. She exuded a sexy, alluring charm.
Unfortunately, Liam was not attracted to this type of woman. He showed no mercy as he pushed her off him. “It’s none of your business what I do or don’t do.”
The woman dared not make any protests. She looked at Liam with tearful eyes. “Liam, I didn’t do that on purpose
…”
Liam had a frigid look on his face. His lips parted, and he said, “Get lost!”
The woman staggered to her feet and left the room silently
A young man sitting nearby grinned and said teasingly, “Who were you talking to on the phone just now, Mr. Robertson? She got you in such a nasty mood.”
