Shattered Moonlight (Maeve) novel Chapter 2

Chapter 2

I’d heard those words countless times over two monthes. Already numb to them.

Dominic grew irritated at my silence. He grabbed my arm and threw me into his sleek Bugatti Revenant, forcibly taking me back to the Ebonvale Pack.

When we arrived, my parents and Celeste were having dinner. They welcomed Dominic warmly while completely ignoring me.

“Maeve, you look thinner. I’m so sorry, this is all because of me. If I had kept silent that night, maybe you wouldn’t have suffered. It’s all my fault…” Celeste’s voice dripped with fake concern.

She hugged me, pressing hard against the silver burn marks on my back. When she was close to my ear, her voice was full of malice. “How did you like it? Those rogues I selected for you–did they make you scream?”

My face instantly turned pale. I instinctively pushed her away, demanding why she was treating me like this.

Why frame me at the Mating Ceremony? How could she treat me like this? I was her own sister!

But in the next second, Celeste deliberately fell to the floor. She scraped her arm and knee badly on the rough stone. Blood immediately stained the polished floor.

“You still hate me, Maeve.” Celeste’s face was already covered in tears.

“Enough, Maeve! I knew you were faking it,” Dominic shoved me aside and picked Celeste up.

You act submissive around me, but attack Celeste the second you see her! If you think your punishment wasn’t enough, fine! Just go back to Crimson Cavern! Look what you’ve done–how could you still show no remorse?!”

Ungrateful pup! You ruined your sister’s reputation and you still defy us! You’ll kneel right here until you apologize to your sister!” I trembled all over, my face turning paler.

Many of the rogues at Crimson Cavern had… particular tastes. They liked making me kneel. And now, those memories came rushing back

I clenched my teeth hard, my whole body tensing, trying desperately not to whimper.

My father thought I was being defiant. He crouched down to look at me, about to shout, before my actions stopped him.

Itrembled, crying with a vacant stare, quickly reaching for the buttons Dominic had redone.

“I’m sorry. I’ll behave. I’m sorry. Please don’t hurt me. I’ll undress faster, you can do whatever you want, I beg you…”
