Chapter 8
Upon hearing Connor’s question, Julie shyly lowered her head and replied, “You see, we both had too much to drink at the bar that night. Have you forgotten, Connor?”
Connor smiled faintly, replying, “I certainly haven’t forgotten that night. I recall that you were the only one drunk that night, though. I was sober the whole time.”
Upon hearing that, Julie’s eyes immediately lit up, thinking that Connor had been sober and had deliberately chosen to sleep with her that night. “Is that so? You were actually sober that night, huh? I thought-”
Julie couldn’t help but smile shyly at that thought, but what Connor said next left her completely stunned.
“It was precisely because I was fully sober that I knew for a fact I wasn’t with you that night.”
Immediately, Julie shook her head, looking deathly pale. “T-That can’t be true. You were obviously drunk that night, Connor. You
probably don’t remember what happened.”
“How are you so sure that I was drunk that night?” Connor asked.
“I…” Julie trailed off, suddenly at a loss for words. She was the one who had slipped something into Connor’s drink that night,
after all.
She then bit her lip and glared at me furiously. “What scheme are you pulling now, Queenie? Did you tell Connor something to
turn him against me?”
I couldn’t believe that she could still find a way to pin this on me. “I only got pregnant with Connor’s baby because he was drugged, and I was there to help with his ‘predicament.’ So, since you said Connor was drunk that night, it was clearly you who drugged him.”
