She Died With My Name on Her Lips novel Chapter 26

At the hospital, the results were finally in. Louise and Tim had both survived their terrible injuries, but there was no escaping prison. Neither the Thompson family nor the Barker family would ever forgive them.

When the police came to take them away, Louise completely lost it. She fought and screamed, refusing to accept what was happening.

“Do you know who I am? I’m Mrs. Barker—Stephen’s wife! You can’t do this to me!”

She twisted around, trying to catch Stephen’s eye. “Stephen, you’re supposed to love me! I finally got a second chance, landed in a world where you and she never even married—so why are you turning your back on me?”

“If you do this, you’ll regret it forever! If Louisa was gone, nothing would stand between us! I’m the one you really love…”

Her voice broke as she lunged at Stephen, desperate and wild. But he didn’t even flinch. He simply stepped aside, slipped his arm around Louisa, and walked away, tossing a single sentence over his shoulder:

“No matter what, the only person I will ever love is Louisa. No one else, ever.”

Stephen was cold as ice—except when he looked at Louisa. The second his gaze met hers, his face softened.

Louise saw the two of them together, and fury overwhelmed her. She coughed up blood and blacked out.

Everything from her last life came rushing back. After Stephen left her in that past life, Louise had nothing. Paul, Alba, and Tim were just as lost. They’d grown up spoiled, used to easy money, and when it all vanished overnight, none of them could handle it. Every day felt like a breakdown.

They tried to work, but it never amounted to anything. They’d long forgotten how to even try. On the rare occasion Louise managed to make a little cash, Paul and Tim would fight over it, snatching it away before she could even blink. It was gone before she knew it.

Then Paul got addicted to gambling. After losing a fortune, he sold Alba, Louise, and Tim off one by one. In the end, the whole family was destStephened, each of them meeting a tragic end.

When Louise got a second chance, she was thrilled to find out Stephen hadn’t married Louisa yet. She thought her wish had finally come true—maybe she’d get a chance with him this time. But without Stephen making the first move, she couldn’t even get close to him. She watched, helpless, as he chased after Louisa again and again. Finally, she snapped. She decided Louisa had to go—permanently.
