Chapter 760

Chapter 760

Eddie hadn’t expected Vicki to show up at Bradley and Cameron’s wedding

When he spotted the wellbehaved girl sitting quietly next to Baron, Eddie froze for a moment.

Vicki was dressed in a coffeecolored trench coat, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, her bangs framing her delicate, innocent face.

Just one glance, and Eddie felt his heart skip a beat.

He quickly regained his composure, shifting his gaze away just before Vicki looked up. He continued holding the tray of drinks, following along with the toasts. But he couldn’t help feeling distracted.

Ever since that time in Regalburg, when Eddie could clearly feel Vicki avoiding him, he’d rescued her, wiped away every trace of his involvement, and quietly slipped back to Steerfall.

After all, deep down, he’d always believed he wasn’t worthy of her.

It was seeing the love between Bradley and Cameron that made him foolishly think maybe he could have a fresh start, too.

But Vicki’s distant attitude was like a harsh slap in the face, snapping him back to reality in an instant. He still wasn’t someone who deserved her.

For nine long months, Eddie hadn’t set foot in Regalburg again.

He’d even skipped his grandpa’s birthday bash, just so he wouldn’t have to see Vicki. He never thought he’d run into her here, of all places.

Once the toasts were over, Eddie finally had a moment to himself.

Cameron and Bradley had already left, leaving the elders to take over entertaining the guests.

As the best man, Eddie didn’t leave until he’d seen off the very last guest. Only then did he finally have a chance to slip away to the restroom.

As he stepped out of the restroom, he came facetoface with Vicki, who was just coming out of the women’s restroom.

Eddie found himself freezing up again.

Vicki naturally noticed him as well.

Today, Eddie was the best man, dressed in a crisp suit that showed off his tall, striking figure. His hair was styled perfectly, and even when he

wasn’t smiling, his mesmerizing, charming eyes were dangerously alluring.

Vicki couldn’t help but think, Oh my, Eddie is really handsome. No wonder he’s the brother who looks most like Cami. But she kept those thoughts to herself.

After all, her brother Baron had warned her not to have any contact with Eddie.

Vicki simply gave Eddie a polite smile, nodded, and walked away.

Eddie nodded in return.

Seeing Vicki leave, he didn’t follow. Instead, he stood by the restroom door for a few minutes, deliberately waiting so their paths wouldn’t cross again.

But when he finally stepped out of the venue, he found Vicki standing there alone.

Chapter 760

Eddie had his car keys in hand just as Vicki turned around and spotted him.

Her innocent face showed a hint of helplessness. Looks like everyone else is gone, she said.

Eddie blurted out, Where’s Baron?

Vicki replied, He took Rachel to Viremont for a stroll. It’s not often they get to come here.

At her words, Eddie just fell silent.

Vicki tilted her head, watching him for a moment before biting her lip. Eddie, could you give me a ride back to the hotel?she asked softly.

It was a holiday, and catching a cab was basically impossible.

Before Eddie came out, Vicki had already tried hailing a ride with an app, but there were forty or fifty people ahead of her in the queue, and there wasn’t a single taxi in sight on this whole street.

So she decided to ask Eddie for a lift.

It’s just a ride, so it shouldn’t really count as breaking Baron’s rule, right?she thought to herself.

Vicki’s request caught Eddie off guard, and a flash of surprise flickered through his mesmerizing eyes.

He was well aware of how much Vicki had been avoiding him.

But now?Eddje couldn’t help but wonder. Eddie knew, logically, he should turn her down. But before his mind could catch up, his heart had already answered for him. Okay,Eddie said.

Vicki’s face lit up with a sweet smile. Thank you, Eddie.

The sunlight was dazzling, and for a moment, Vicki’s smile felt like it was shining right into the shadows of his heart, lighting up places that had been dark for far too long.
