Chapter 779
Eddie sat by the floor–to–ceiling window, expressionless, watching Vicki’s retreating figure as she walked out of the villa.
He shut his eyes tightly, making himself turn away.
Cameron and Bradley soon returned.
After learning what had happened, Cameron sighed.
Bradley wrapped his arm around her and said, “Cam, we’ve already helped Eddie. Let’s just let things unfold.”
Cameron nodded.
That was all they could do.
The next day, Eddie left their house, tugging his suitcase.
His life went back to being as still and lifeless as a dead pond.
He holed up in his therapy office, burying himself in work from morning till night.

Time flew by, and half a year passed in the blink of an eye.
Cameron gave birth to a healthy baby boy–adorable and lively, with features that took after her. They named him Peyton Saunders.
The Saunders and Yates families were overjoyed.
Everyone’s attention was shifted to Cameron and her baby boy.
When Eddie was chatting with Camilla, she casually mentioned, “Vicki’s dating someone.”
Eddie’s eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn’t respond.
Two more years slipped by, and Eddie hit thirty.
During these years, he happened to hear Camilla mention that Vicki had dated two boyfriends, but both ended in breakups–and neither. relationship lasted even a month.
For his thirtieth birthday, the Saunders family threw Eddie a huge party, inviting a bunch of socialites from all over Steerfall.
Nathan and Beth were hoping Eddie would finally find someone to settle down with.
The heiresses came over to toast him, and Eddie wore a polite, distant smile, chatting with them out of courtesy.
He looked so cold and detached, like no one there was even worth a second glance.
“Happy birthday, Eddie.”

Chapter 779
Vicki walked up to him in a black strapless gown, holding a glass of red wine, smiling as she stopped in front of him.
The Saunders family had also invited her to Eddie’s birthday.
After all, Vicki was the younger sister of Eddie’s cousin–in–law, so she was basically family.
The usual indifference in Eddie’s alluring eyes melted away, replaced by amazement. He felt something caught in his throat, and a faint smile crept onto his lips. “Thanks.”
His hand trembled as he gently tapped his glass against Vicki’s.
How long had it been since they’d last seen each other?
Two years.
It had already been two years.
But even after all this time, just seeing her again was enough to stir up all his feelings, as if she could still get under his skin without even trying.
Vicki looked at him with a bright smile. “Eddie, you look so handsome today.”
Eddie was dressed in a perfectly tailored charcoal gray suit, tall and striking–just standing there was enough for him to become a head-
turner.
Eddie’s smile grew wider, and he couldn’t take his eyes off her. “You look stunning as well,” he said, and he meant every word.
“Thanks,” Vicki said with a smirk.
Beth and Camilla watched as Eddie treated Vicki so differently from everyone else–it was obvious to anyone paying attention.
Beth let out a helpless sigh. “Camilla, what is Eddie even thinking? If he likes Vicki, why doesn’t he just make a move?”
Camilla slipped her arm through her mom’s. “Mom, Eddie’s a grown man now. He has his own way of doing things. We don’t need interfere.”
Beth sighed again.
She’d noticed Eddie had a thing for Vicki years ago, back during that whole incident with the Quinn family.
But after all these years, nothing had ever happened between them.
‘These young people’s thoughts are just too hard to guess,‘ Beth thought.
Ever since Vicki walked into the party, it was like Eddie only had eyes for her–no one else even existed in his world.
The other socialites got the hint and kept their distance.
When Baron saw Eddie and Vicki chatting and laughing together, looking so happy, he frowned but didn’t say anything.
