Chapter 1009
Beads of sweat dotted Scott’s assistant’s forehead, yet his expression remained icy and composed. His tone was clipped and formal.
“Miss McKinzie, Mr. Kalen requests your presence at home.”
Sharon smiled faintly. “Perfect timing. Our car’s out of fuel anyway. Sorry to trouble you.”
The assistant blinked, momentarily thrown off. He hadn’t expected that after overturning multiple cars and causing a city-wide uproar, Sharon would actually agree so easily.
With a discreet glance, he signaled to the tall, broad-shouldered bodyguards behind him. They immediately closed in on Sharon’s group, ready to prevent any attempt at escape.
Sharon acted as though she hadn’t noticed. She slid gracefully into the car.
Wendy followed her into the backseat, while Thomas took the passenger seat.
As soon as the engine started, several vehicles pulled in close, forming a tight perimeter around them-no room left for flight.
Yet all the way back, Sharon made no move to resist. She was so unnervingly cooperative that it put everyone on edge. The quieter she became, the tighter the assistant’s nerves coiled, terrified she was only biding her time for another outrageous stunt.
Only when they finally crossed into the Kalen family estate did he dare to breathe again.
Sharon, Wendy, and Thomas stepped through the doors-only to find not just the entire Kalen family gathered in the living room, but the Walton siblings as well.
As she entered, Jamie’s lips curved into a mocking smile. He leaned back lazily in his chair, sipping tea, looking for all the world like a man settling in to watch a show.
On the way back, Silas had already received the assistant’s report.
