Chapter 331
Sharon smiled softly. “If you keep eating it for a while longer, the problem with your cold hands and feet will completely go away. After that, I’ll help adjust your digestion too. But you’re still young–your digestive system isn’t fully developed yet. So you should try to avoid sweets, cold drinks, and fried foods as muc
as possible.”
Matty nodded obediently. “Then… Sharon, what do you think I should order?”
Sharon opened the menu and pointed out a few dishes. “These are all good for kids. See if there’s anything you’d like.”
Right beside her, Theo sat quietly. From the moment he arrived unil now… not a single word from Sharon had been directed at him.
Not one.
All her attention was on Matty.
A creeping sense of panic gripped Theo, a suffocating feeling of being shut out.
His mind flashed back to when he used to run eagerly to Kelly, always wanting to tell her every little thing that happened in his day. His small world revolved around her warmth and attention.
And yet… back then, he couldn’t be bothered to say more than a word or two to his own mother.
At his kindergarten, every kid’s parents were at least college graduates. His mother… hadn’t even graduated high school.
Grandma said Mom didn’t belong in their world. Not his father’s, not his.
As he got older, Theo slowly understood what shame was. What vanity was.
Where he’d once clung to his mother, now he found her… embarrassing.
At school, he never dared to mention her to his classmates or teachers. If anyone asked who picked him up, he always said it was the nanny.
Grandma told him it was natural. People should aim higher. It was normal for a child to admire strength.
Before he turned five, his mother was his entire world.
After five… she was no longer anyone he could look up to.
Kelly’s appearance had filled every gap left in his heart where his mother had once lived.
And in his eyes, he wasn’t wrong for feeling that way.
But watching his mom now–laughing, chatting, and doting on another kid so naturally–an unfamiliar, suffocating anger swelled in his chest.
It felt like someone had stolen his most beloved toy.
“I’ll have this, and this… and this one too,” Matty’s voice snapped Theo out of his spiraling thoughts.
Turning his head, Theo saw Matty flashing a bright, sweet smile at Sharon. “I remember you like these dishes too, Sharon.”
A subtle warmth flickered across Sharon’s expression, “You can just order what you like. You don’t have to worry about me.”
“No, that won’t do.” Matty shook his head, face serious. “You always cook what I like, and you always eat plain food just to match me. If I can help it, I don’t want you to keep compromising for me. When we eat together, you should eat wha
too.
“Sharon, you’re so good to me. I should be good to you too.”

For a moment, Sharon felt her throat tighten. The words she wanted to say caught somewhere deep in her chest.

All she could manage… was a single word. “Okay.”
Theo’s eyes burned with anger.

Kelly was right. Mom had a new child now. That’s why she divorced Dad. That’s why she didn’t even want custody of him.
He hadn’t believed it before.
But watching this–this scene right in front of him–he finally believed it.
She really didn’t want him anymore.
