Chapter 339
Carter and Kelly left with Theo,
This time, no one tried to stop thein.
As soon as the door closed behind them, Wendy exploded. “Sharon what’s going on with Theo and Carter? Why do they always look down on you? Do they seriously not know you went to college”
Sharon took a sip of water, her expression calm. “Maybe not.”
Xavier’s eyes stayed on her. “Why does your record disappear after high school? It’s like there’s nothing past that.”
“I left for overseas before I graduated,” Sharon replied.
Xavier’s brows lifted slightly. “Even if you went abroad, your records wouldn’t just vanish into thin air.”
Sharon lowered her long lashes, quietly hiding the ripple of emotions in her eyes. “That’s because… when I went overseas, I wasn’t using this name. The records tied to that identity were deliberately altered. It’s not surprising you couldn’t find anything.
Xavier’s gaze sharpened. “Deliberately altered?”
Wendy shot Sharon a sidelong glance. Seeing she wasn’t avoiding the subject, but instead opening the door herself, Wendy didn’t hesitate to jump in.
“Xavier, have you ever heard of the Kalen Group?”
“Which Kalen Group?” Xavier’s voice dropped anote, his eyes darkening. “You don’t mean… the Kalen Group in Marcentine, do you?”
Wendy nodded. “Exactly. That Kalen Group.‘
”
For a moment, Xavier’s pupils darkened further. His eyes shifted to Sharon. “Would you mind explaining?”
The Cooper family had done far too much for her. It was time he knew.
Sharon fell silent, then slowly began her story.
“It’s… honestly, a ridiculously cliché story. My parents were in a business marriage. From the day they got married, my father never really loved my mother. He had a first love he never got over. Even after my mother got pregnant and gave birth to his child, he kept seeing his mistress.
“Later… when my mother finally gave up, ready to let him go and set him free… that’s when my father realized he’d fallen in love with her after all.
“He came back. He cut ties with his first love for good, and tried everything to make it up to my mom. He treated her better than ever–so much so that, slowly, she opened her heart back up to him.
“Two years later, she gave birth to twin boys. And just like he promised, my father stayed true–completely cutting off his old lover.
“But then… my mother’s family made some disastrous decisions in business. They were on the brink of bankruptcy. Even so, my father never once looked down on her. He stood by her and helped them survive.”
Sharon’s gaze drifted slightly, her voice turning softer, more distant. “I’ll never forget the way my mother looked when she told me all of this. Her face was softer than I’d ever seen. Peaceful… even gentle. Just when my mom thought that life would finally settle down… something happened.
“For their wedding anniversary, my dad planned a sailing trip. But during the trip, they hit a storm. He gave rescue boat so my mother could be saved. He was swept away by the waves.

nothing. Not a trace.
She had three small children to raise. She swallowed her grief and took over the company in his place.
“Three years passed. Everyone assumed my dad was dead. Everyone but my mom. She refused to give up.
