Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 386

Chapter 386

Sharon was still lost in thought when John’s voice cut through, pulling her back.

“Since that’s the case… let’s go together on the day of the music exchange.”

She blinked, gathering herself. “Alright.”

At Kelly’s studio.

When Carter arrived, Nate was pacing, trying to comfort Kelly.

“Kelly, don’t worry,” Nate said, gritting his teeth. “I swear, I’ll find whoever did this to your studio.”

Kelly said nothing, only lowered her head, quietly wiping her tears.

The moment Carter stepped inside, Nate’s eyes lit up like someone spotting a lifeline.

“Carter, look!” He pointed furiously. “Someone’s targeting Kelly. They splashed paint all over her studio!”

Carter didn’t need him to spell it out. His gaze swept over the walls stained with jagged, violent words.

“Homewrecker Kelly!”

“A filthy mistress who ruins families!”

“Shameless gold-digging trash!”

The blood-red paint dripped down the walls and doors like some grotesque curse.

A sharp chemical stench hung heavy in the air, choking and nauseating.

Carter’s expression darkened. “Did you check the security footage? Any idea who did it?”

Nate wasn’t completely brainless. “We checked. The cameras in Kelly’s studio were already sabotaged in advance. But the surveillance at the building entrance wasn’t touched. We got something.”

He pulled out his phone. “The culprits were prepared. Four men, disguised as construction workers, carrying paint buckets. Completely covered up. Couldn’t see their faces.”

Kelly’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears, but there was rare tension in her usually soft features-a hint of anger.

“I don’t even know what I did wrong… how could someone do this to me? This is my workplace…” Her voice trembled.

Nate snapped, “Besides Sharon, who else could’ve done this? I heard she’s organizing a concert too! Clearly, she can’t stand to see Kelly doing well!”

Carter said nothing at first. His gaze stayed unreadable.

“I’ll have someone investigate this thoroughly,” he finally said.

Nate’s brows shot up. “Carter, seriously? Kelly’s only just come back to Amstern City. She doesn’t know anyone except us. Think about it. Who else could possibly hold a grudge against her?”

He glanced at Carter accusingly.

“Carter… don’t tell me you’re planning to shield Sharon again?”

Carter raised his brow. “When have I ever shielded her?” 1

Nate scoffed, voice rising. “Really? The mess Sharon’s caused lately… with your power, crushing her would be easier than swatting a fly. But you haven’t lifted a finger. You just let her keep doing whatever she wants. If that’s not shielding her, what is?

Carter’s eyes went colder, his tone turning icy. “You want to convict someone? Bring evidence. If you think I’m protecting her, go ahead-call the police. Let’s see if they’ll arrest her based on your assumptions.”

Nate faltered, his momentum crumbling, but his mouth stayed stubborn. “Even without proof, this has Sharon written all over

it.”

Carter turned to Kelly. “Kelly, what about you? What do you think?”

Her lashes fluttered.

“Whether Sharon did this or not… it doesn’t really matter,” she murmured. “What matters is… my studio is ruined. I can’t practice. The concert preparations will be delayed. Repainting, cleaning, getting rid of the fumes… it’ll take so long.”

She lowered her head, the picture of melancholy.
