Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 423

Chapter 423

On the other end of the line, Xavier’s deep, magnetic voice came through.

“Sharon, are you dealing with some problems lately?”

Sharon replied, “Yeah, it’s about John, but it hasn’t reached an unmanageable point yet.”

Xavier said, “If it ever does, remember-you can come to me anytime.”

“I will.”

After hanging up, a glass of warm water was suddenly held out to her.

“Sharon, have some water.”

Matty spoke like a little adult. “Dad says drinking warm water helps you recover faster when you have a cold.”

Sharon accepted the glass with a soft smile. Her heart warmed.

“Thank you.”

Moments later, the doorbell rang. Just as Sharon was about to get up, Matty stepped in front of her.

“That’s probably Dad. Sharon, lie down and rest. I’ll get the door.”

Seeing how thoughtful he was, Sharon didn’t argue.

Sure enough, when the door opened, it was Xavier standing there.

Matty lowered his voice and said, “Dad, Sharon has a fever. Did you bring any medicine?”

Xavier glanced at him sideways. “Of course I did. I’m not that clueless.”

Only then did Matty nod in relief.

Sharon’s face was noticeably pale, her features drawn with fatigue. Xavier’s gaze swept across the room and landed on the digital thermometer on the coffee table.

He picked it up and scanned her forehead.

39.2°C.

His expression tightened. The casual air he usually carried was gone, replaced by quiet concern.

“Sharon, your fever’s pretty high. You need to go to the hospital right away.”

Just as she was about to respond, her phone rang.

She looked at the screen. It was Wendy.

She answered immediately.

“Sharon, I’ve messed up…” Wendy’s voice on the other end was weak and dejected.

Sharon’s expression changed. “Wendy, what happened?”

“I found someone with connections. They said there might still be a way to negotiate for the concert venue, so I went to the club where we agreed to meet. But a few drunk rich kids were there too, and they insisted I drink with them. I refused, and they started getting handsy. They surrounded me. I couldn’t take it anymore and smashed a bottle over one of their heads…”

Even through the phone, Sharon could hear the chaos behind her.

“You filthy bitch! How dare you hurt Quentin? Do you have any idea who his father is?! Not even the goddamn king can save you

now!”

Sharon asked urgently, “Where are you now?”

Wendy gave her an address.

“Try to stay calm. I’m coming right away.”

Sharon hung up and stood to leave.

But Xavier blocked her path, watching her swaying figure that looked like it could collapse at any moment.

“Sharon, where do you think you’re going?”

She took a few steps before the dizziness hit. The room spun. It took everything she had not to black out.

“Something happened to Wendy. I have to go.

Xavier grabbed her wrist. Her skin was burning hot.

“You really think you’re fit to go anywhere in your condition?”

The sudden strain drained even more color from her face.

Xavier looked down at her, his voice low and firm. “Sharon, be honest. Do you think you can even make it past your front door?”

“But I can’t just leave Wendy alone.” She inhaled deeply, bracing herself. “If I don’t go now, she could be in serious danger.”

He was silent for a moment, then said, “I’ll go with you.”

Sharon glanced at Matty. “And what about Matty?”

“I’ll have the driver take him home.”

Matty looked up at her understandingly. “Sharon, don’t worry about me. I’ll go home with the driver. It’s okay.”
