Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 425

Chapter 425

Wendy had encountered her share of inappropriate advances before, but never something like this. It was no different from being dragged off the street for being a girl.

Sharon gently comforted her. “Wendy, it’s over now.”

Xavier looked at Quentin with a half-smile. “Quentin, did you really have to make the poor girl cry?”

Quentin knew he had messed up big time.

With a loud thud, he dropped to his knees and began slapping himself across the face.

“Mr. Cooper, I was wrong! I’m sorry! I swear I won’t ever do it again!”

He didn’t hold back. Each slap landed hard and fast, and in mere moments, his face was swollen.

Worried that Xavier might still be angry, he grabbed a bottle from the coffee table and smashed it against his own head.

Glass shards flew everywhere, but no one dared stop him.

The private room fell utterly silent, save for the sound of the bottle shattering.

Even Wendy was stunned by the scene.

Only after Quentin knocked himself unconscious did Xavier finally look away. He turned to Sharon.

“We’ve got who we came for. Shall we go?”

Sharon nodded.

Outside the entertainment club, Sharon turned to Xavier and said quietly, “Xavier, thank you for tonight.”

Xavier smiled. “What are friends for? No need to be so formal.”

Sharon knew that without Xavier, she never could have walked into that situation completely unprepared and come out

unscathed.

He glanced at the time. “Let’s go. I’ll take you to the hospital first.”

Knowing Sharon had come despite a high fever only made Wendy feel even more guilty.

“Sharon, I’m sorry. I acted on impulse.”

Sharon gave a small smile. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Why apologize? You were just protecting yourself. And besides…”

A chill flickered in Sharon’s eyes like rippling water.

“This may not have been some random misfortune. It might have been… intentional.”

Wendy’s breath caught. She seemed to understand.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the hospital.

Wendy accompanied Sharon while she got an IV drip.

Sharon turned to Xavier and said, “Xavier, I’m sorry to trouble you so late. It’s quite late, and Matty is still waiting at home. You should get some rest.”

But Xavier didn’t leave. “Matty’s already asleep at this hour. It’s not like I lie down with him. Whether I go home or not now doesn’t make a difference.”

Then he turned to Wendy. “I’m going to get something to eat. Wendy, is there anything you’d like?”

Wendy understood immediately-Xavier was clearly planning to stay with Sharon.

They were fairly familiar with each other, and Wendy didn’t decline.

She smiled. “Just a coffee for me, thanks.”

“Alright.” Xavier nodded. “You stay here and keep Sharon company. I’ll be right back.”

The night had grown deep and quiet.

Getting an IV was dull work, and Sharon, burning with fever, soon drifted off to sleep on the hospital bed.

For some reason, she dreamed of her time in the Kalen family.

Since leaving, she had rarely dreamed about them.

Even though she had stayed with the Kalens for over three years, those years had never made her feel like she belonged.

She never developed any affection for her father or the three older brothers.

Back then, her mother had told her she had a biological father and three older brothers. Sharon had been filled with excitement and hope.

She also knew she had a half-sister.

She had anticipated that this half-sister of hers wouldn’t like her.

What she hadn’t expected was that, on the very first day she returned to the Kalen household, the ones who put her in her place

were her three brothers.

Her third brother, Scott-always cold and taciturn-didn’t mince words when she stepped through the door. He looked her dead in the eye and said, “Victoria is my only sister.”
