Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 444

Chapter 444

Kelly cast a sharp glance at Sharon, her eyes gleaming like blades.

“I’d rather give up everything than watch a murderer walk free.”

Carter’s brows drew together involuntarily. “Kelly, calm down.”

“You’re seriously injured. How do you expect me to stay calm?!” Kelly’s eyes reddened, and her voice trembled with emotion. For a moment, it almost seemed genuine.

“Kelly…” Carter parted his lips, as if to say more, but Kelly, overwhelmed by emotion, cut him off.

She looked at him solemnly. “Carter, we can always find another studio, and if we need a composer, I can ask my mentors for help. No matter what I’ve endured, I can bear it. But I absolutely cannot accept that you were hurt because of her!”

Sharon stood quietly to the side, watching their heartfelt exchange. Her red lips curled slightly as she spoke, her voice cool and

detached.

“Kelly, if you’re truly willing to give up everything, that means all of Carter’s efforts were in vain. Even the stab wound he suffered-it was for nothing. Are you sure you want to throw it all away?”

Kelly glared at her coldly.

“None of it was in vain. I’ll make sure you get the punishment you deserve. Besides, for Carter, I’m willing to lose everything.”

Her words were well-crafted, but Sharon knew better. She had struck a nerve earlier with her wager, and now Kelly was determined to win, no matter the cost.

Sharon let out a chuckle. “Unfortunately, what you want doesn’t matter. What matters is what Carter wants.”

Kelly instinctively looked at Carter, only to see that his deep, unreadable gaze hadn’t left Sharon for a second.

Her heart sank. “Carter… you’re not seriously thinking of letting her go, are you?”

Carter’s eyes flickered. “Kelly, the concert is just around the corner. Given your current health, there’s no guarantee you’ll even – be able to make it through. We can’t afford to waste any more time.”

At that, Sharon turned to Kelly with a faint smile.

“You see, Kelly? Carter is so deeply devoted to you that he’s even willing to endure being stabbed for your sake. If it were anyone

else, he’d never let me off so easily.”

Kelly bit her lip instinctively, tasting the metallic tang of blood.

Sharon was flaunting her victory.

For years, Kelly had used her illness to gain favor. Now, it had become her own trap.

She took a deep breath and steadied herself. “I won’t accept this.”

Carter’s voice darkened. “Kelly, don’t be stubborn. I remember you once said you love music above all else-that you’d give up anything for it. If you abandon your music just to make a point, then what does that make all your words?”

Kelly opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

Carter had fallen for her because of her unwavering passion for music. If she gave that up just to satisfy her pride, her entire persona would collapse.

His tone softened. “Kelly, step outside. I need to speak with Sharon alone.”

Reluctance clouded Kelly’s eyes, but in the end, she didn’t dare go against him. She turned and left the room.

As soon as the door closed, the atmosphere in the room shifted.

Once, Sharon had always had something to say to Carter. Now, there was only silence between them-nothing more to be said.

In the end, it was Carter who broke the quiet.

“You’re that sure I won’t do anything to you?”

Sharon answered lightly, without hesitation. “I am.”
