Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 507

Chapter 507

When he heard Kelly’s words, Thomas raised his eyebrows slightly.

“Kelly, didn’t you once say no when I offered to deal with her for you?”

Kelly froze.

He was right. He had suggested it before, and she had refused.

All she wanted then was to win over Carter. She wasn’t some cold-blooded monster who would kill without a second thought. There was no need to get blood on her hands.

But things had changed.

Now that Sharon had Uriah backing her, even Thomas would have a hard time going against the Malcolm family.

So why not go all the way and erase Sharon?

She parted her lips, instinctively searching for an excuse. But no words came out.

Time had changed her. Her heart had grown darker.

Seeing the shadow cross her face, Thomas didn’t press her for an answer. He never really expected one. Whether she was kind or cruel made no difference to him.

He said, “I can do this for you. But before I do, I want to ask you something.”

Kelly asked, “What is it?”

Thomas looked at her. His eyes darkened, with none of the clarity they’d held moments ago.

“All these years,” he said, “why have you never been able to play a piece like the one that night?”

Kelly froze, then understood immediately. He must have heard Sharon perform First Love just now, and it had brought back that

memory.

Everyone had their own playing style. She hadn’t been the one playing the violin that night. Naturally, she could never replicate the feeling he remembered.

She had tried, in her own way, to replicate that sound and sensation. But real feelings were elusive things. She had never been able to pin down exactly what it was he heard that night.

“I was in a really good state that evening,” she began to explain. “I—”

Thomas cut her off before she could finish.

“But today, when I heard Sharon play, it felt very close to what I heard that night.”

Kelly paused. “You mean… the original style?”

“Original style?”

She quickly added, “Her performance today was very similar to the original composition’s tone and feel.”

She glanced at Thomas, then continued, “Most beginners tend to mimic the original very closely. But professional violinists— true musicians-they develop their own style.

“Back then, when ‘First Love’ first started gaining attention, I practiced it in the garden almost every day. At the beginning, I followed the original’s style as closely as I could. But once I became familiar with it, I began to blend in my own interpretation.”

She wasn’t lying. She really had developed her own style. Only amateurs got stuck mimicking. No matter how close the imitation, it would always be someone else’s sound

That thought brought her a flicker of ease. She let out a long breath and gave a soft smile.

“Thomas, you’ve had so many professional violinists play ‘First Love’ for you. But I’m sure you’ve realized, not many could capture the feeling you’re looking for. Not because they weren’t skilled, but because…. they’re all professionals. They already have a sound of their own.

“You think Sharon’s version sounds right because she’s still copying the original. She played ‘First Love’ at the kindergarten talent show too, remember? I honestly suspect she only knows how to play a handful of pieces.”
