Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 514

Chapter 514

Carter had nothing to say.

He couldn’t even remember when Sharon had ever mentioned it to him. Or maybe she had, and like everything else she said, he just hadn’t paid attention.

For a moment, time seemed to stall. The air thickened, pressing in on everyone.

Karl shot Nate a vicious glare, already vowing in silence that once they were home, he’d skin Nate alive.

Madeline, too, was drowning in regret. If she had known the medicine came from Uriah himself, there was no way she would’ve kept her distance. Had she visited Uriah, had she made the effort…maybe she would be the one standing beside Uriah now.

Her gaze turned sharp as it landed on Sharon. Sharon must have known who Uriah was all along. She had deliberately kept it from them.

Now, seeing how much Uriah valued Sharon, Madeline knew it was only a matter of time before Sharon rose to prominence in elite circles. If Sharon and Carter had still been married, the Biggs family would’ve gained endless benefits from this connection.

Madeline gritted her teeth. Who would’ve thought that this “useless” former daughter-in-law of hers had hidden such capability?

A flicker of regret surfaced in Madeline’s heart, but she was too proud to ever admit she had misjudged someone.

She nudged Theo lightly. “Theo, didn’t you say you missed your mom? That you haven’t seen her in a long time? Well, now she’s here. Go talk to her. There’s no lasting grudge between a mother and her child.”

Flattering Uriah was something she could do. But humbling herself in front of someone she once disdained? That was a different story. Her pride wouldn’t allow it.

Still, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Theo was her best move.

Just as he was about to step forward, a small, clear voice rang out from across the room.

“Sharon! Mr. Malcolm!”

A tiny figure ran toward them.

The moment Uriah saw who it was, his entire face lit up.

“Well now, if it isn’t Matty!”

Matty looked up at him. “Mr. Malcolm, how was my violin performance today?”

Uriah chuckled warmly, resting a hand on his head. “It was lovely! Much better than your last performance at the kindergarten.”

The sight made Madeline’s eyes nearly pop from her skull.

She recognized Matty. She even knew that Sharon was currently helping care for Matty.

But since when were Matty and Uriah this close?

Was it because of Xavier?

Madeline didn’t want to admit that the bond might have been forged through Sharon. That would be too much to swallow.

While her mind raced, Xavier appeared in the distance and walked toward them.

“Mr. Malcolm. Sharon.”

Uriah gave him a courteous but distant nod, though it was nowhere near the warmth he showed Sharon.

Seeing Xavier brought a flicker of something to Sharon’s eyes. She thought of Cole. But this wasn’t the time or place to bring it

With nothing more to say, Uriah turned to leave.

Kelly finally let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.

But just as Uriah passed her, he suddenly stopped, as if something had just occurred to him.

Kelly’s fingers curled tightly, her expression stiffening

Uriah glanced at her. “Kelly, how’s your illness these days?”

A cold sweat soaked her palms.

“Much… much better. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Malcolm.”

Uriah responded, “I’m not concerned about you. I’m just concerned you’ll ruin my reputation.”
