you the ointment.”

After replying, Sharon hung up.

Wendy turned to her. “That was Uriah’s call?”

Sharon recounted the conversation, and Wendy frowned.

“Lex is definitely a weasel bringing trouble disguised as a gift. Sharon, you must not go! Who knows what he’s plotting against

you.”

“Who harms whom is yet to be seen,” Sharon said with a cold, wry smile. “Even if I avoid him this time, he’ll likely cause more

trouble next time. Instead of being passive and taking blows, I’d rather strike first.”

She shared her plan with Wendy, who immediately brightened. “Sharon, that’s a smart move. But…”

A shadow of worry crossed Wendy’s eyes. “Lex will only hate you more after this.”

Sharon nodded. “There’s no chance of making peace with Lex anymore. Better to be at odds and get some satisfaction out of it. It’s

just…”

Her gaze dropped, tinged with guilt.

“I feel a bit sorry for Uriah. He’s been thinking about me, hoping I’d marry into the Malcolm family. And here I am, tangled up

with Lex like this.” 1

Wendy sighed.

“Uriah believes whoever becomes head of the Malcolm family must be exceptional. It’s one thing that Lex has his own attachments, but his bias against you is unforgivable. If Lex hadn’t started this, things wouldn’t have escalated this far.”

Wendy nodded. “A while ago, after lunch with Casey, I saw Thomas help catch a thief. He’s brave, kind-hearted, and trustworthy.

Plus, he’s got great skills. He’d make a solid bodyguard for you.”
