Chapter 654
Sharon noticed Theo seated beside Victoria, chatting and laughing with her.
Her thoughts drifted-until a sweet, delicate voice suddenly rang out at her side.
The tone brimmed with delight and surprise. “Carter, Theo, you came to watch me compete?”
A flash of white swept past Sharon.
Kelly rushed forward and scooped Theo into her arms. “Theo, it’s been so long since you last saw me. Did you miss me?”
Theo had been engrossed in his conversation with Victoria about ice skating. He hadn’t noticed Kelly at all. The sudden embrace left him stunned.
“Kelly… when did you get here?”
The preliminary rounds were divided into groups. Since everyone had gathered to watch Sharon’s performance, no one had paid attention to which group Kelly belonged to.
She didn’t seem to mind. Smiling brightly, she said, “I just finished my round and saw you and your dad.”
Her tone was airy and cheerful. “Theo, how about I treat you to something cold and sweet afterward?”
Children always found it hard to resist desserts and icy treats, especially those who weren’t allowed to have them often.
Sure enough, Theo instinctively gulped, tempted.
Just as he was about to agree, Victoria spoke first.
“Kelly, Theo is lactose intolerant. He can’t have most of the cold drinks or ice creams sold at dessert shops.”
Kelly’s smile faltered for an instant before she noticed Victoria. With a strained laugh, she said, “Don’t worry, Victoria. I’ll avoid the things he’s allergic to…”
But Victoria cut her off, her tone suddenly sharp.
“Kelly, Theo has a weak stomach. Eating too many cold foods can upset his digestion and damage his health.”
Then she turned to Carter. 1
“Carter, you’re his father. I shouldn’t interfere… but as Theo’s aunt, I can’t stand by and watch such a young child suffer lasting harm because of negligence. If his body isn’t protected properly now, these problems will follow him all his life.”
Victoria’s expression carried a rare stern gravity.
“As a father, you can’t only care about his studies. You must also care about his health.”
Her righteous words didn’t upset Theo. On the contrary, he looked dazed.
He suddenly remembered-his mother used to say the same things.
But back then, he had only found her nagging.
Carter was about to respond when a familiar figure caught his eye.
He turned his head, gaze instantly drawn.
Sharon stood there quietly. He had no idea how long she had been watching. Her expression was unreadable, her emotions impossible to gauge.

“Sharon.” His voice was low and rough.
Victoria’s words had stirred memories he had long buried-reminders of things he had once overlooked.
When she had prepared medicinal dishes to nurse his health, she had often reminded him to avoid cold food and to eat every
meal on time.
Every morning, she had risen early to make his breakfast herself.
During the worst of his stomach troubles, she had even sent meals to his office through Simon.
At the time, he had taken it all for granted.
Now, there was no one left to do those things for him.
And every time the pain returned, he would remember, unbidden; those little fragments of the past.
Sharon stepped closer. “Victoria, Johanna… you’re here too?”
With calm candor, Victoria replied, “I came to observe Zachemaine’s competitors’ strength. I happened to run into Carter and
Theo here.”
