Chapter 698
Ever since their outing to the sports club, Thomas had become obsessed with throwing darts.
After returning home, he even bought a full set of dart equipment for practice. In his spare time, he would often train, and his natural talent showed immediately. After just a day of practice, his throws were almost uncannily precise.
Wendy, who enjoyed baseball, invited Thomas to join her, and he quickly proved to be skilled at that as well. It seemed that no matter the sport, he could pick it up with extraordinary speed. Wendy couldn’t help but praise his athletic talent.
Sharon laughed. “Well done. I’ll raise your salary tomorrow.”
Thomas’s smile was dazzling. “Thank you, Sharon.”
At that moment, he twisted the arm of the bodyguard controlling Casey, freeing her. Casey wasted no time and hurried toward
Sharon.
Thomas cast a glance at Damien, whose expression had darkened, and asked, “Sharon… are we just going to let him go?”
“Of course not,” Sharon said.
In her hands, a baseball bat had somehow appeared. It was the one Wendy had left outside yesterday after her game, not yet collected. Earlier, Wendy had asked Sharon to bring it back with her. As Sharon had been retreating, her hand had already brushed against it.
If Thomas hadn’t arrived in time, Sharon, after using the pepper spray, would have followed up with the bat to disable the bodyguard first.
A soft smile graced her face, yet her eyes were colder than ice. She had enemies trying to steal everything she owned, enemies seeking to ruin her reputation, enemies plotting to frame her-and some even wanted her dead.
She had thought that Nate and Lex were the most unscrupulous people she had ever met. Damien had shattered that assumption completely.
She had never relied on violence to solve problems. But this Damien-she could not tolerate him.
She could die, but she would not lose her hands.
Step by step, Sharon advanced, gripping the baseball bat tightly.
Thomas watched her movement and seemed to understand her intent. Thomas’s eyes-darker than the night itself-flickered with sparks of light, a subtle glow of excitement igniting within him. His blood seemed to boil with the thrill of seeing a kindred spirit.
Just as Sharon was about to reach Damien, Casey suddenly stepped in to block her.
Damien’s lips curved into a slow, knowing smile. He had anticipated this-Casey could never truly bear to leave him.
Casey took the baseball bat from Sharon’s hands and said firmly, “Sharon, let me handle this.”
Sharon glanced at her, reading the determination in her eyes and the unspoken plan behind it. After a moment, she nodded.
“Okay.”
Casey wasn’t acting for herself-she was acting for Sharon. This entire situation had arisen because of her. She would not allow Sharon to be tainted by blood.
Thomas said, “He has some fighting skills since he was trained from young. I’ll first weaken him so you two can act safely.”
Casey knew that even with a weapon, she might not be Damien’s match. “Good. Weaken him first.”

Damien’s eyes widened in disbelief as they locked on Casey.
“Casey… you would do this to me, would you?”
Seeing the hurt in his expression, Casey scoffed.
“Don’t look at me with that ‘I’m wronged’ expression. When you were blind, I stayed by your side. I took care of you tirelessly. Do you even remember the promises you made back then?
“You said you’d treat me well for life.
“And this is your idea of treating me well-forcing me into the streets, all alone and helpless when I tried to break up with you?”
