Chapter 798
Thomas extended the bouquet of baby’s breath toward Sharon.
“Sharon, congratulations on your victory.”
Sharon’s gaze fell on the flowers.
Baby’s breath-her favorite.
It must have been Wendy who told him to prepare them.
She accepted the bouquet with a smile. “Thank you.”
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed. When Carter emerged, his eyes immediately caught the scene: Sharon smiling brightly as she accepted Thomas’s flowers. The radiance on her face
was worlds apart from the indifference she always showed him. ↑
Sensing something, Thomas turned his head and met Carter’s gaze. His eyes flicked to the roses in Carter’s hand. He arched a brow. “Hello, Carter, are you here to give Sharon flowers as well?”
Carter’s handsome features darkened with chill. “None of your concern.
Thomas gave a mild laugh. “Just a reminder, Carter, you should give her the flowers she actually likes. Not every woman favors roses. Sharon’s favorite is baby’s breath.”
Carter’s eyes shifted to Sharon. She was lowering her head, gently adjusting the flowers in her hands. The delight shining in her eyes was unmistakably genuine.
His expression grew heavy, his voice roughened without warning. “Sharon, I—”
Sharon didn’t spare him a glance. She lifted her gaze to Thomas instead. “It’s getting late. Shall we go?”
Thomas took her violin from her hands. “Of course. Wendy has already booked a restaurant. Let’s head over.”

Sharon nodded and started forward.
Carter moved to follow, but Thomas stepped neatly into his path.
“Today is a day of celebration for Sharon. I’d advise you not to go along and spoil the mood.”
A glacial light flickered in Carter’s eyes. “So if I follow, I’m ruining the mood. But if you follow, it’s a welcome addition?”
Thomas sighed as though helpless. “Carter, you were married to her for five years, and you didn’t even know her favorite flower. Even if you’re her ex-husband now, the memory of being so overlooked is hardly pleasant. 1
“If you insist on tagging along and once again do something she dislikes…” His gaze met Carter’s dark, turbulent eyes. “…what else would that be, if not adding insult to injury?”
Carter’s steps froze.
Thomas said no more. He turned and walked away with Sharon.
Carter remained rooted to the spot, staring at her retreating figure, the weight in his chest almost suffocating.
“Carter.” Kelly came to his side. “Sharon is already gone. Let’s go back too.”
Carter’s expression was cold. “You go back on your own.” 1
A flash of disbelief crossed Kelly’s eyes.
He refused to take her home?
Before she could protest, another set of footsteps approached.
Maestro Warner and several of his students emerged, half-supporting a disheveled Harry.
Today, Harry had been humiliated spectacularly.
Though he was Warner’s student and a violin prodigy in his own right, his disagreeable

personality and ruthless way of doing things had earned him many enemies. Now, he was reaping what he had sown, to the delight of countless onlookers who would gladly grind him into the dirt.
Some wasted no time. They posted the video of Harry barking like a dog on their social media accounts, tagging him directly with just one line: [Time to retire.]
Others, musicians who had long resented him yet could do nothing before, now delighted in tormenting him further. They called and messaged him, feigning ignorance while oozing schadenfreude, offering hollow condolences with words sharpened like salt against an open
wound.
