Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 829

Carter loathed Thomas, but he was not so idle as to waste time watching his every move.

"I don't know," he replied coldly.

Sharon held his gaze.

"That car was brand new, yet its brake pads failed. According to my investigation, the dealership belongs to the Biggs Group. And the employee who returned the car that day—vanished without a trace."

Carter immediately caught her implication. "You suspect me?"

Sharon didn't deny it.

"Thomas doesn't know anyone here. He has no enemies. You're the only one who has always despised him, the one with the strongest motive."

Her rejection didn't anger Carter; he knew he had wronged her. But hearing her accuse him on behalf of another man—when these things weren't even his doing—sparked a smoldering fury he couldn't name.

"Sharon, we were husband and wife for five years. No one knows me better than you. And him…"

His eyes cut toward Thomas, voice dripping with disdain.

"How long have you even known each other? Do you really think you understand him? How do you know he hasn't done worse than you imagine? For all you know, everything you see in him is just an act."

Before Sharon could respond, Thomas spoke.

"Mr. Biggs, you are the least qualified person to say such words. You were married to Sharon for five years—you should have known her better than anyone. And yet, when Kelly framed her, you chose to believe Kelly and forced Sharon to apologize.

"Whether or not I'm pretending is still uncertain. But Kelly's lies were real. Mr. Biggs, your judgment of people needs serious work."

His words struck where it hurt most, dredging up memories Carter would rather forget, leaving him momentarily speechless.
