Chapter 854
Sharon froze at the words.
“Kelly’s hand… crippled?”
Wendy turned to her, delight glinting in her eyes, her voice dripping with schadenfreude.
“That’s right. Who knows who she offended, but someone destroyed her hand outright. Brutal, isn’t it? They struck her exactly where it hurt most, took away the one thing she cared about most.
“From now on, she’ll never play the violin again. The news is already trending. And instead of pitying her, people are saying it’s karma-that she deserves it for faking her illness.”
As a violinist herself, Sharon knew better than anyone what it meant to lose both passion and career in one blow. Kelly’s skill had never matched hers, but being accepted as Warner’s student meant she was far from ordinary. Now, with her hands destroyed… there could be no harsher form of revenge.
Thomas asked evenly, “Is there any chance of recovery?”
Wendy shook her head. “Her fingers are gone. There’s no coming back from that.” (1)
Sharon gave a nod. “Perhaps it is her retribution for all the harm she’s done.”
Wendy laughed. “Exactly! She’s done so much to hurt Sharon, but what could we do? We couldn’t break the law and go after her ourselves.”
They talked for a while longer, until Wendy suddenly remembered something.
“Oh, right, Thomas. You’ve been so secretive lately. What have you been up to?”
A sly smile tugged at her lips. “Don’t tell me… you’ve found yourself a girlfriend?”
“No,” Thomas replied. “Just stumbled into something interesting.”
Wendy leaned forward, intrigued. “What kind of interesting?”
