"She is so confident. Can it be that she is indeed innocent?"
"I wonder why people find it hard that a woman can also have money using the righteous means. Must it always be men who should be rich while women struggle?"
"I wonder too, but that’s society for you."
"I am also curious about what kind of business she does."
"Who cares? I just want to see if that ugly girl will swear easily the way our pretty lady did!"
"I am curious too."
Eliza, at that moment, was panicking as what she feared was exactly what was happening.
A confident person was always the hardest to win against. And that foreboding feeling she was having seemed to be getting fulfilled.
However, since she had already stepped into the pit she had dug, there was no turning back for her.
And since she didn’t believe in any gods or deities, Eliza wasn’t scared of offending anyone or anything.
"I swear by the_"
But sometimes what people expect wasn’t what they would get, for karma is truly a vindictive bitch. One that would daunt, taunt, and latch onto you like a leech or a vengeful ghost when you least expect it.
"OMG!"
"Damn!"
"Ahhh!"
"What just happened?"
And when one’s soul was dirty and repulsive, like Eliza’s, who just dared to play with what she shouldn’t, it was also easy to see those people suffering from karma.
And that’s what Eliza faced before she could even finish her swearing.
Diamond looked astonishingly at Eliza, who was standing just a moment ago swearing an oath smugly. And yet in a matter of seconds, she was lying flat on the floor in an embarrassing manner as if someone had pulled a magic trick on her.
’Just what had just happened?’
Diamond was failing to fathom exactly what had just transpired, for everything just happened very fast.
How did she even fall to the floor when no one was near her?
Did she offend some deities with her actions?
Diamond used to believe in nothing, too. Never religious and all. However, ever since the system was granted to her, she knew that there were higher powers that couldn’t be seen and shouldn’t be messed with.
So instead of playing with what she didn’t know, she was always very careful with the unknown. And unless she was sure of the outcome, she wouldn’t carelessly swear the way that Eliza did.
If it was before when she was at college, she would have accepted the humiliation rather than swearing for during that time, she was indeed relying on a man and her body to improve her life.
But now that was different. She was not only rich because of the system alone, but because she was also willing to work hard.
Everyone watched as Diamond suddenly kneeled on the floor where Eliza was. They all thought that she was going to help the other up and couldn’t help but discuss fervently again.
"She is too merciful. If it was me, I would have left her lying there."
"I think that ugly woman just wanted some pity. Why is she not waking up on her own?"
"I wonder what she is up to?"
Even Eliza was worried about what scheme Diamond had come up with, for she had seen that sly smile earlier and that didn’t sit well with her.
Diamond knelt beside Eliza before reaching her hands towards her.
Eliza wanted to run away but she couldn’t, for whatever force was blocking her didn’t want her going anywhere.
Diamond lowered herself closer to Eliza, with her lips nearly brushing Eliza’s ear.
Eliza was truly scared now, for she was fully aware that Diamond just wanted to piss her off and she wasn’t even afraid of the watching masses.
"Eliza, Eliza, Eliza!" Diamond whispered in a murmur that only Eliza could hear.
And Eliza, hearing her name being spoken out of that hateful person’s mouth, enlightenment finally dawned on her.
’She already knew who I was from the get-go! Just who the heck is she?’
"Blame your s*** of sister. She is the one who sent you into this awkward and unfortunate predicament. And please tell her that D says I will be coming for her!" Diamond passed the message without caring for how Eliza would react.
