Zachery knelt down and used clean gauze to press on Belinda’s wound to stop the bleeding.
Belinda’s crying had always been purposeful before–crying to be spoiled, to be difficult, to protest…
But this kind of sobbing, almost suffocating, was the first time Josephine had ever heard it.
She felt as if she might break apart right along with her.
Helena gave Zachery a hard shove.
Zachery was in the middle of splinting Belinda’s leg.
Helena’s forceful push made him quickly pull his hands away from Belinda’s leg to avoid hurting her.
But he lost his balance and nearly fell backward to the ground.
Josephine reacted quickly, grabbing Zachery by the collar and pulling him back.
Once Zachery was steady, Josephine freed her hand and raised it to slap Helena.
Helena had been hit by Josephine too many times and instinctively ducked her head to avoid
But the slap didn’t land as expected.
Helena slowly looked up and saw it was a bodyguard who had stopped Josephine.
“Madam…”
Realizing he had used the wrong title, the bodyguard quickly corrected himself:
“Ms. Copeland, Ms. Pollard was just too worried about Belinda and overreacted. Treating Belinda’s injury is the priority.”
Josephine’s gaze at Helena was fierce and menacing.
Helena grew timid and muttered, “It was Dr. Maynard’s daughter who broke Belinda’s leg.

Who knows if Dr. Maynard really means well?”
“It’s not for you to decide.”
After shouting at Helena, Josephine turned to the bodyguard and said, “Get her out of here.”
The bodyguard obeyed Josephine’s order and went to pull Helena away.
Helena glared at the bodyguard. “Can’t you tell what’s important?”
The bodyguard lowered his head. “Ms. Pollard, Madam… Ms. Copeland is still Belinda’s biological mother.”
Helena’s face turned ashen. She knew she couldn’t make a scene any longer–if she delayed Belinda’s treatment, Wilfred would hate her.
She wiped the tears from her face and let go of Belinda.
Zachery gently finished splinting Belinda’s leg and said, “Belinda needs to be taken to the hospital as soon as possible, and the ride must be smooth.”
Josephine nodded. “Then we’ll go to Jovitas General Hospital.”
Josephine drove, Natalia sat in the front passenger seat, and Zachery took care of Belinda in the back.
Zachery contacted the head of orthopedics in advance.
When the Land Rover arrived at the emergency building of Jovitas General Hospital, Wilfred was already waiting.
His suit jacket was unbuttoned, tie loosened, hands on his hips, anxiously checking his watch over and over.
As Josephine and Zachery got out of the car, they saw an ambulance from St. Estella Hospital pulling into Jovitas General Hospital.
Several doctors and nurses got out of the ambulance. At Wilfred’s signal, they rushed over to take Belinda’s stretcher.
Josephine quickly reacted and tried to stop them: “Wilfred, Belinda needs surgery right
away…
“I have custody of her!”

Wilfred exhaled a breath he had been holding in for a long time.
“If you still care about your daughter at all, stay with her for the surgery… But if you can so casily stay with that father and daughter, then don’t expect to ever see Belinda again.”
Wilfred exchanged a glance with the medical staff of St. Estella Hospital, and Belinda was carried onto the ambulance.
He stepped up as well, sitting on one side, his gaze fixed firmly on Josephine, waiting for her to make a decision.
Josephine had originally planned to accompany Belinda for the surgery, but she didn’t like being threatened.
Wilfred had once threatened her with the Good Samaritan Shelter and the packaging factory, making her shoulder a two–billion debt, and he had succeeded.
He had also used Patricia to force her to apologize to Helena, and had almost succeeded.
Now, it was Belinda’s turn…
She couldn’t let Wilfred emotionally blackmail her anymore…
She hadn’t even taken a step to leave when she heard Belinda crying and shouting from inside the ambulance.
“Mom, I’m scared.”
“I want my mom…”
