Take Back All She Lost novel Chapter 165

Chapter 165

Josephine pressed her lips into a straight line and met Wilfred’s gaze. The two of them fell into a tense, surging silence.

Suddenly, the ringtone from the phone in Josephine’s jeans pocket broke the deadlock.

Wilfred glanced down and saw the caller ID on Josephine’s phoneZachery.

Josephine turned her face away to answer the call.

Zachery said, I’m downstairs at the inpatient department of St. Estella Hospital right now.

Josephine walked out of the inpatient department and saw Zachery.

His refined figure stood gracefully, exuding an air of scholarly elegance.

His fair cheeks and the faint smile at the corner of his lips lent a gentle warmth to his entire being.

The agitation Josephine had gathered when facing Wilfred vanished in an instant.

There was a calming power about this man.

Josephine was holding the windbreaker Zachery had draped over Belinda.

Zachery was holding the bag Josephine had left in his car.

The two of them made an exchange.

Zachery thought to himself: If only we were exchanging rings instead

After taking her bag, Josephine asked Zachery, Where’s Natalia?

Zachery replied, She’s asleep. Dr. Castro is watching over her.

Josephine nodded.

It was already three in the morning, and even the adults were reaching their limits.

How’s Belinda?Zachery asked.

Josephine replied, She just came out of surgery and hasn’t woken up yet.

Downstairs at the inpatient department, there were surveillance cameras everywhere, and people occasionally passed by.

Zachery gestured for Josephine to walk toward the pavilion in the rest area.

Near the pavilion, there were osmanthus trees, their fragrance thick in the late August air.

Josephine took a deep breath, holding it in for a moment before exhaling.

Whether teaching Belinda or Natalia, she always told them not to run away from problems.

But at this moment, she found herself hesitant to ask Zachery whether Natalia had pushed Belinda.

Although Natalia hadn’t been her daughter for long, she weighed just as much in Josephine’s heart as Belinda did.

Both are flesh and blood, whether palm or back of the hand.

No matter who pushed whom, it would put her in an impossible dilemma.

But what had happened, had happened; there was no use in avoiding it.

She had asked Clara, who said that Mia was behind the two of them and didn’t see clearly whether Natalia pushed or not.

After a brief silence, Josephine was the first to speak to Zachery:

When we crossed Brookcross Bridge, I activated the monitoring function on Natalia’s fingerprint ring. Open the app on your phone and listen to the recordingmaybe we’ll find something out.

Zachery’s eyes and lips lifted slightly as he looked at Josephine and said, Alright.

He then took out his phone and opened the app.

While listening to the recording, Josephine’s gaze would occasionally and unconsciously fall on Zachery.

He remained calm and composed, showing not the slightest hint of nervousness or guilt.

Because the recording was quiet, the two of them sat only a fist’s width apart.

He leaned in with his left ear, she with her right, their breathing was audible.

Zachery got distracted halfway through.

Josephine, however, listened to the entire recording with unwavering focus.

It matched almost exactly with what the bodyguard had said.

Natalia saw Mia and tried to take her back at Brookcross Bridge, but Belinda refused to let her go.

Natalia tried to take Mia away, but Belinda stopped her.

Natalia told Belinda that it was too dangerous there and not to use force.

Belinda said, then let go of Mia.

In the midst of their pushing and pulling, Mia said, Belinda, I’ll go back with Natalia. Don’t pull on Natalia

Since there was no video, the recording couldn’t prove whether Natalia had pushed Belinda. Josephine regretted not having upgraded Natalia’s fingerprint ring at EternalCore Fab.

Otherwise, the monitoring function would have included video footage.
