She blamed her for being so stupid and useless. When Josephine needed someone to back her up the most, all she could think of was replying to those malicious comments one by one-“Please don’t say that anymore. Josephine is the most perfect person I’ve ever known.”

Josephine was in a slightly better mood now that she was with Patricia.

But soon after the food was served, Shane started bombarding Patricia with calls.

Josephine smiled and told Patricia she was fine. However, as the driver took Patricia away, her shoulders slumped.

A sense of loneliness gripped her heart.

She ordered a bottle of wine and drank it alone.

Just then, a brisk, pleasant girl’s voice rang out. “Josie!”

She looked up and saw Natalia and Zachery.

“Natalia?” Josephine blurted out.

Hearing this, Natalia let go of Zachery’s hand and darted to Josephine briskly.

“Yes, it’s me. But it’s Daddy who spotted you first, Josie.”

Josephine and Natalia both turned to look at Zachery at the same time.

He smiled gently, exuding a gentle glow as he walked toward them.

“What a coincidence, Josephine.”

Those who weren’t close to Josephine usually addressed her as Ms. Copeland or Mrs. Hayden. Zachery was the first to call her by her first name.

But she didn’t mind. Standing up, she said, “Hello, Dr. Maynard. You’re here for dinner,

too?”

She agreed.

She stared at him, slightly dazed.

Anyway, she wasn’t that upset anymore. Why grieve over losing a jerk?

As she was lost in thought, she didn’t realize her gaze was still on Zachery’s face.

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he felt his face and even the tips of his ears blushing.
