Chapter 170
She told Patricia about what happened at Firefly Glen.
Patricia was stunned for a long time before she finally spoke: “Belinda used to be a bit spoiled, but she never lied.”
Josephine said, “Helena must have led her on.
་་
“To think Wilfred became CEO of Novo Tech at twenty–two, yet he has no ability to see through women.”
“It’s not that he can’t, he just chooses to be blind. He’s never touched any other woman, only Helena… Because he raised Helena himself, invested so much in her, and got so little in return, he can’t let go.”
Josephine’s tone was very calm–not cold, but rather gentle and accepting, as if she had been through a lot and come to terms with it.
Patricia was glad to see Josephine so at ease, and asked her a rather private question.
“With Helena by Wilfred’s side, you can’t be alone forever, right? I read online that once a
you do woman… you know, does it, she can’t get enough and always wants more… What will if you feel that way?”
Josephine replied bluntly, “What’s money for, if not to buy happiness? If I feel like it, I’ll just find a clean man for a one–night stand… Want to come with me?”
“No, don’t take me! I don’t dare play that game…”
Josephine chuckled, hung up on Patricia, and went back to sleep.
She had only slept for three hours before being woken up by a call from a local unfamiliar number.
When she answered, she was surprised to hear Belinda’s voice, sounding listless and unhappy.
“Mom, did you block my number?”
Josephine sat up and, not wanting to lie to Belinda, answered with a simple Mm.

It wasn’t just Belinda–she had blocked the entire Hayden family, all of Wilfred’s friends, and every business associate.
If Belinda hadn’t broken her leg and cried for her mother, Josephine would never have gone back to her.
Belinda didn’t throw a tantrum this time, probably because the pain had drained all her
energy.
“Will you ever take me off the blacklist?”
“Depends on how you behave.”
As Josephine spoke, she got out of bed and walked to the dressing room.
Belinda immediately promised, “I… I’ll behave from now on. Mom, can you come to the hospital now? I’ll be good.”
Thinking that Belinda’s fracture was still in a dangerous stage, Josephine agreed, “I’ll be there
soon.”
“Okay.”
Belinda handed the phone back to the nurse. “Thank you, Auntie.”
The nurse said, “You’re welcome. You’re so polite and well–behaved.”
Belinda had never been praised like that before; at home, the maids only obeyed her orders.
Other than that, they basically never spoke to her.
Being praised for her manners felt different from being told she was as pretty as a little princess.
Being called polite made her feel even happier.
The nurse looked at Belinda’s damp hair and said:
“You sweated a lot on your head. I’ll go get some warm water so we can wash your okay?”
hair,
Wilfred came out of the bedroom, fully dressed and immaculate.
He saw two nurses helping Belinda wash her hair.

Belinda didn’t complain about pain or call anyone clumsy, he walked over and couldn’t help but pinch her chubby check.
Belinda held a strand of her own fallen hair in her hand and asked Wilfred, “Daddy, what can hair be used for?”
Wilfred didn’t understand what Belinda meant and replied, “Having hair looks nice, and it keeps you warm.”
“Then what are two strands of hair good for?”
“They’re good for nothing.”
Belinda was puzzled. “Then why did Mom take two of my hairs?”
Wilfred froze, as if someone had hit the pause button!
When Josephine arrived at Belinda’s hospital room, she ran into Wilfred, who was in a hurry to leave.
