Helena led Belinda down from the second floor, just in time to see Wilfred’s car leaving.

“It’s so late, where is Fred going?”

She asked Shane, who was sitting on the sofa playing with his phone.

Without even looking up, Shane said, “He went to Opal Heights to find Josephine.”

Belinda was not happy to hear this.

“Why is Daddy still going to see Mommy? He didn’t forget that he has to take me to Noble Elite Junior Summer School tomorrow, did he? Auntie Helena, Auntie Helena?”

Belinda looked up at Helena’s face and was startled.

Helena’s lowered lashes cast a heavy shadow beneath her eyes, her gaze was dark and sunken, and her chin was raised high, like a viper in a cartoon.
