Chapter 53
This kid seemed a bit withdrawn and cold…
Rose Manor
Willed was awakened by Belinda’s crying. His temples throbbed as if they were about to explode
When Belinda saw Wilfred open his eyes, she cried even harder
“Daddy, Auntie Helena is gone. She doesn’t want us anymore!”
Wilfred was completely confused by what he heard.
“It was you, Daddy. You got drunk last night and drove Auntie Helena away. You send this isn’t her home.”
Belinda showed Wilfred the surveillance video Helena had given her.
He had actually hurt Lena’s feelings for the sake of a woman from a nightclub?!
Wilfred immediately got up and called Zoey over. “Where’s Lena?”
Zoey said, “Ms. Pollard left early this morning with her suitcase.
“Why didn’t you stop her?”
Zoey thought, “Why would I stop her? She should have left long ago.”

Wilfred asked his secretary to find out where Helena had gone.
The secretary found out that Helena was on her way to the airport.
Wilfred rushed downstairs, got in his car, and sped off to chase after Helena.
Dark clouds rolled across the sky, as if it was about to rain.
Wilfred called Helena three times, but each call was hung up.

He reached the airport as fast as he could, hurried through the terminal, and anxiously searched for Helena.
When he saw Helena curled up in a corner, hugging her knees and sobbing with her head buried, he slapped himself across the face.
When Lena was eight, she was abandoned on the roadside, curled up just like this beside a wooden crate.
It was snowing heavily then. He got out of the car with an umbrella and asked her, Do you want to come home with me?
She was almost frozen into a snowman, only her eyes could still blink, watching him warily
He told the driver to bring her into the car. She curled up in a corner, not saying a word, trembling like a little rabbit that had been beaten and was now afraid of people.
She ate only a little, didn’t talk to anyone, and wouldn’t go to sleep, just sat with her eyes open, guarding the door to his room,
When he had to go to school, she would chase after his car like crazy, crying her heart out:
“Brother, please don’t leave me. I’ll be good and go to sleep, eat less, I’m easy to take care of, please don’t abandon me…”
Back then, he made a promise: he would never give up on Helena in this lifetime!
Wilfred slowly crouched down and placed his hand on Helena’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry, Lena. I shouldn’t have said those things last night.”
Helena lifted her tearful eyes and turned to look at the lightning and thunder outside the glass.
“Fred, my flight was canceled. I can reschedule it…”
Wilfred’s eyes reddened as he pulled Helena’s head tightly against his chest.
“No need to reschedule. Don’t go. I’ll give you Rose Manor. From now on, Rose Manor is your home!”
“How can that be? It was my fault to begin with. I didn’t know my place and overstepped my bounds. From now on, I won’t interfere in your life anymore, Fred…”

Wilfred felt even more guilty: “You can interfere. From now on, only you can interfere!”
“Really, Fred?”
Helena’s tearful eyes revealed a sickly kind of joy.
But she was just going along with the situation, playing a pitiful act
From now on, Rose Manor would belong to her
Josephine only realized it was pouring outside after she got off work.
She had a habit of checking the weather forecast and kept a folding umbrella in her bag
She opened it and headed across the street to hail a cab.
The ride–hailing app showed more than twenty people in line ahead of her.
