Josephine said, “Natalia is Dr. Harrington’s child.”

“Dr. Harrington saved me, and saved your child. Shouldn’t you be kinder to Dr. Harrington’s child?”

Wilfred was surprised, and suddenly felt an indescribable emotion, as if a weight had been lifted from his heart.

So Josephine cared so much for Natalia because she was Dr. Harrington’s child!

But when he remembered Josephine smiling at Zachery, he still felt stifled inside.

“And what about you, Josephine? Zachery is Dr. Harrington’s husband. Shouldn’t you keep your distance from him? You say you love him–are you going to repay kindness with betrayal?”

Josephine was utterly stunned!

Zachery, having changed his clothes, came over to look for Josephine and Natalia.

Natalia pointed in the direction of Josephine and Wilfred.

Zachery looked over.

Just then, Wilfred turned around, and the two men’s eyes met across a not–too–far, not–too-

close distance.

Wilfred’s thick brows were drawn cold and straight.

Zachery’s gaze was deep as ink.

After accompanying Natalia to receive her medal, Josephine told Zachery and Natalia that she had an appointment and wouldn’t be joining them for the celebration.

Natalia was a little disappointed, but still cheerfully said to Josephine, “Thank you for today, Josie. I won’t forget this day.”

Zachery asked, “Where are you going? I’ll take you.”

Josephine replied, “No need, I’ll just take a taxi.”

“It’s still early, and I have nothing else to do…”

With that, Josephine walked out of the school, hailed a taxi, and her figure quickly disappeared.

Zachery stared in the direction Josephine had left, feeling a bit unsettled.

Her warmth toward him seemed to have faded back to how it was before.

Patricia sat by the window, waiting for Josephine.

Her jet–black hair fell smoothly on either side of her cheeks.

She wore a simple white dress, with a touch of fresh lotus green at the cuffs.

She had sewn it herself.

Before marrying Shane, she had her own studio.

After her grandfather arranged the marriage with the Decker family, Shane’s mother said it would be shameful if word got out that her daughter–in–law was a seamstress, so she forbade her from running the studio.

Patricia never resisted.

Because she knew she was different from others.

She had no great talent, nor anyone powerful backing her.

Josephine got out of the taxi.

Through the glass, she spotted Patricia at a glance.

She waved, walked in, and sat down across from Patricia.

It was the first time Patricia had seen Josephine in such a bright sports outfit, and she was amazed:

“You look beautiful. Where have you been?”

Josephine took a sip of lemon water to moisten her throat and said, “I accompanied a little girl to a parent–child event.”

While eating, Josephine told Patricia the whole story.

Her tone was calm throughout, less dramatic than telling a fairy tale.

Patricia had a sensitive stomach.

When Josephine mentioned that Wilfred and Helena kissed in public for a full minute, she was so disgusted she couldn’t eat.

“If anyone says again that Wilfred is devoted to his wife, I’ll fight them to the death.”

That was the harshest thing Patricia had ever said.

Her porcelain–white, delicate face flushed with emotion.

She really found it strange–who on earth had the nerve to say Wilfred was ‘devoted to his wife‘?!

As a bystander, she saw things most clearly.

Other than not fooling around with women, Wilfred wasn’t even a qualified husband.
