Chapter 72
He just stood there in the quiet, his gaze locked on a certain spot.
Josephine’s heart skipped two beats.
As the taxi driver hit the brakes, she hurriedly said, “Driver, don’t stop, keep going, I’ll get out at the south gate.”
As the taxi passed right in front of Zachery, Josephine saw him under the dim yellow streetlight, his white shirt illuminated like a scene from an old film.
He wore silver–rimmed glasses, his eyes deep and dark.
He stared at the glass in front of him, his gaze colliding with hers.
The car windows were tinted for privacy; she was sure Zachery hadn’t seen her.
But her heart still pounded wildly for a few moments……
For several days in a row, Josephine was busy preparing for the exhibition, leaving early and returning late.
She hadn’t gone to the Opal Heights restaurant to eat again.
Natalia missed Josephine a bit. Even on the weekend, she got up early and waited for Josephine at the entrance of their building.
Josephine was walking quickly, but when she heard Natalia call out, she stopped involuntarily.
She looked around, and only relaxed when she didn’t see Zachery
“Natalia, let me give you a hug.”
Josephine found herself growing more and more fond of Natalia.
Whenever she saw Natalia, she just wanted to hug her, as if it were an addiction she couldn’t

Josephine tapped Natalia’s upturned little nose.

“A gift?” Natalia rubbed her hands together expectantly. “What is it, Josie?”
Josephine put Natalia down for the moment and took a pink ring out of her bag.
Natalia.”
“It’s a children’s fingerprint ring. I made it together with some other uncles and aunties for you, Natalia. It can open doors, make and receive calls, provide real–time location, take photos, connect to your camera, and send pictures with one click.”
“Wow. So I can call Josie with it?”
“Of course! It doesn’t need a SIM card, but Natalia will need to get her own phone card…”
Out of the corner of her eye, Josephine saw Zachery coming out of the building, and her expression changed. She said to Natalia:
“You play with it for now, I’m going to be late for work.”
Josephine turned and left immediately.
Zachery called out to her, but she didn’t stop.
Natalia asked curiously, “Daddy, why is Josie ignoring you?”
Zachery pushed up his glasses and said helplessly, “If only I knew.”
It must have been something Wilfred said to Josephine that day.

On the day of the exhibition, Josephine realized she had forgotten to contact the media.
She could only take things one step at a time.
Theodore came over and said, “I’ll go with you.”

Actually, the last thing she wanted was for Theodore to accompany her to the exhibition.
Because she had a sharp tongue and couldn’t say anything nice to warm up clients.
Theodore was even worse; he basically didn’t talk to people at all.
