Taking Back What My Sister Stole novel Chapter 21

Chapter 21

They had had such a bad fight earlier in the day.

And she couldn’t handle this closeness.

She tried to get up again, but Wesley pulled her back once more.

This time, he pulled harder, and she ended up right in his arms. They were pressed close together, in a way that felt pretty intimate.

His big hand was holding her waist, keeping her from getting up.

Priscilla got a bit annoyed. She looked up at Wesley with a cold stare. “Is this some kind of game?”

Wesley dipped his head and gave her a long, passionate kiss, but she didn’t push him away or kiss back.

He got bored and let go of her.

He reached up and gently ran his hand through her long hair. His voice was deep and a little rough from all the feel- ings. “Isn’t it great to be my wife at home?”

He was ready to give her a life of luxury and piles of money, as long as she did what he said.

Priscilla kept her head down. The book in her hands was closed now, and the word “Perfumery” on the cover caught her eye.

She thought, if she really wanted to be his obedient wife, she would have given up two years ago when he got the in- heritance among all those uncles and half-siblings.

After being together day in and day out for three years, he still didn’t get her.

Maybe he just didn’t care to try.

He had no idea how much she loved making perfumes, or how much she was into the way different smells could mix together to make something totally new.

Priscilla slowly got up from Wesley, her fingers running through her hair and smoothing it out.

“If you wanna help Larissa, I’m fine with it,” she said in a quiet, gentle voice, looking calm.

It was like when they first got married three years ago. They didn’t know each other, but suddenly they were the clos- est by law.

Back then, she was like this-talking softly, smiling kindly, but always keeping a little distance.

Wesley’s face was blank. The warm, orange light faded, taking the warmth with it. In its place was a kind of anger

that made the air heavy.

He didn’t want to see this side of Priscilla.

What he wanted was a wife who would smile and be lively in front of him.

Priscilla put the book back on the shelf. Her white dress swayed in the dim room for a second, then settled down.

She said softly, “I left the divorce papers on the table. You can check them out.”

She thought for a moment, then added, “I don’t want any of your money, but I’m taking the Holiday Series with me.”

That was her only condition.

She wasn’t leaving something she had worked so hard on for someone else.

With a dull thud, the door to the study slammed shut. Wesley’s face darkened.

He put his hand on his forehead and sat there for a long time.

Outside the window, a few raindrops started to fall. The night sky was full of dark, rolling clouds. A big storm was on

its way.

Meanwhile, Priscilla got ready for bed and lay down. Her phone had a message from Corrine.

Corrine knew that Priscilla had quit and was mad at Wesley. She invited Priscilla to her studio the next day to make two new dresses for her.

Priscilla felt a little better and wasn’t so upset anymore.

She put down her phone and quickly fell asleep.

In the middle of the night, Priscilla jolted awake.

Lightning flashed, and right after that, there was a loud boom of thunder.

She clenched her blanket, and her face turned pale in the dark room. For some reason, the air felt damp and sticky, making it hard to breathe.
