“Cecilia.”
Luciano felt a pang of heartache, “Let’s get the surveillance footage from the manager.”
Cameras line the hallway; the truth will come out once we see it.
“No need.”
Cecilia was truly exhausted.
To Wesley, Larissa was pure and flawless, the most innocent soul on earth.
While Cecilia herself was practically synonymous with cunning deceit.
The footage could prove her innocence, but it wouldn’t shift Wesley’s prejudice.
“Sorry, Luciano, for making you miss dinner.”
She apologized, her tone flat.
Only she knew the agony in her heart.
Luciano stroked her hair, “I’ll take you home.”
Cecilia glanced at the moaning drunks sprawled on the floor.
“Call the police first.”
After officers led them away, Cecilia left with Luciano.

She didn’t go home.
Instead, she asked Luciano to drive her to the hospital.
She needed to see Johan.
At the hospital, she asked a nurse and headed to Larissa’s room.
The moment she entered, Larissa spotted her.
Larissa flew into hysterics, shrieking, “Out! Get out! I won’t see her!”
Wesley stormed out grim–faced, yanking Cecilia into the corridor.
“What are you doing here?”
Cecilia shook off his hand, expressionless. “I’m here to see Johan.”
“What for?”
He sounded impatient.
Cecilia stated, “About Corrine Morton.”
Wesley’s pupils contracted sharply. “Isn’t Corrine in Crystalshire?”
Cecilia sneered. “Wesley, helping Johan lie–doesn’t that give you a guilty conscience?”
He knew perfectly well Corrine wasn’t in Crystalshire, but hidden away by Johan instead.
She couldn’t fathom why Wesley lied, though it surely served Larissa’s marriage plans with Johan.
“Wesley, what a devoted brother you are.”

dragged into this.”
“Even a real brother wouldn’t go that far.”
Cecilia always believed Wesley loved Larissa, which explained his unusual leniency toward her.
But he shouldn’t impose this on others.
Like her.
Like Corrine.
“Did Johan threaten you? Saying he’d call off the wedding with Larissa if you pursued this?”
Though guessing, Cecilia’s intuition told her she was spot on.
Wesley lowered his voice, “I’ll give you answers about Corrine.”
But Cecilia didn’t believe him.
She marched straight toward the hospital room.
She’d confront Johan face to face.
Wesley blocked her again, gripping her wrist as he looked down at her.
“Cecilia, I said I’ll give you answers about Corrine.”
“I said I don’t trust you.”
She’d asked Luciano for help searching everywhere, yet found no trace of Corrine.
With each passing day, her worry grew.
Now, she only wanted answers from Johan.

“Johan, come out!” Cecilia raised her voice deliberately.
“Cecilia.” Wesley’s voice turned icy cold. “Enough.”
Cecilia shook off his hand. Luciano tried to intervene but she barged into the room.
Larissa screamed, “I don’t want to see her!”
“Cecilia, must you provoke Larissa like this?”
Tania was seething with rage, her refined features contorted.
She shielded Larissa, standing protectively in front of her daughter.
Larissa hugged her knees, sobbing tearfully. “Cecilia, how much more must you ruin me before you’re satisfied?”
As if Cecilia were the villain who’d wronged her.
Ignoring the false accusation laced with feigned vulnerability, Cecilia kept her eyes fixed on the tall man by the bed.
“Johan, I need to speak with you.”
Lost in thought, Johan moved to approach her.
But Larissa clutched his sleeve, her pale face tilted upward. “Johan, don’t go.”
She remembered how he’d stared, unable to look away, when Cecilia tried on wedding gowns at the bridal shop.
A wave of dread washed over her.
Johan hesitated, sighing softly. “Cecilia, whatever it is, say it here.”
Tears streamed down Larissa’s cheeks. “Cecilia, he’s my fiancé. What

could you possibly need to say that his fiancée shouldn’t hear?”
Tania curled her lip in disgust. “Exactly. Speak here. Who knows what might happen if you two are alone together.”
Cecilia thought she’d shown remarkable restraint–she hadn’t even mentioned Johan taking Corrine away yet.
But they kept pushing.
“Are you sure you want me to say it here?”
Larissa didn’t release Johan’s shirt, biting her lip stubbornly.
“Say it right here.”
Cecilia granted her wish.
She asked Johan: “Where did you hide Corrine?”
Silence fell over the hospital room the moment the words landed.
Larissa’s grip on Johan’s shirt gradually loosened as she sat up straight in disbelief.
Johan’s expression shifted slightly.
Tania frowned: “Corrine?”
Cecilia deliberately softened her voice, repeating the question.
“Yes, Corrine. Johan, where did you hide her?”
Tears welled in Larissa’s eyes, her pale face etched with despair. “Johan, is Corrine with you?”
She stared at the man she loved as if experiencing a soul–crushing betrayal.

Tania strode over, her hand swinging fiercely towards Cecilia’s face.
But halfway there, it was intercepted.
Johan chuckled lightly with disdain. “Mrs. Bradshaw, slapping people at the drop of a hat? One might mistake you for a harpy on a public street.”
