Taking Back What My Sister Stole novel Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Larissa was back after ending her relationship. Shouldn’t Wesley have filed for divorce right away and brought her back into his life?

What was he even thinking?

Priscilla didn’t think much about Wesley’s trip until the maid kept coming to her.

“Mr. Carlton told me to make sure you take your medicine while it’s hot.”

“Mr. Carlton sent some fresh food for you to try.”

“Mr. Carlton…”

Priscilla got tired of hearing it and told the maid to leave her alone.

Not long after, Wesley’s video call came through.

“Did I hurt you last night?” he asked.

Even through the phone screen, his handsome features were sharp and striking. Dressed in a suit, he gave off an air of restrained elegance.

A flush crept up Priscilla’s cheeks. She hadn’t wanted it at the start, but his skills had left her weak and breathless by

the end.

Now that he had brought it up, she felt embarrassed.

“Stop talking about it.” She had never been comfortable talking about that kind of stuff, especially not so bluntly.

It made her feel all flustered.

Wesley softened his voice and asked, “Is the food not to your taste?”

Priscilla propped her chin on her hand. “I don’t like it.”

The food was actually something she usually liked, but since he had arranged it and she was annoyed with him, she didn’t like it.

Wesley didn’t get mad. He took off his tie and rolled up his sleeves. “You have to eat it anyway. It’s good for you.”

Maybe because his physical needs had finally been met before the trip, he seemed unusually patient and tolerant of

her mood.

Priscilla said nothing.

He continued, “My flight is at one the day after tomorrow. Come pick me up, okay?”

“No,” Priscilla replied, hugging her blanket and lying on her side, rejecting him in a laid-back way.

Wesley lowered his voice, coaxing gently, “Come on, be a good girl. I brought you a gift.”

“You’re so annoying.” Priscilla rolled her eyes at him, reminding him of their situation. “We’re getting divorced. I don’t want your gift.”

He chuckled. “I’m more than happy to bring gifts to my wife.

“You don’t have to accept it, but my wife does.”

Priscilla bit her lip, lost in thought. It felt like she was back in the good old days when they were all lovey-dovey. ·

Her nose got tingly with sadness. She put the phone down, not wanting Wesley to see her looking upset.

“Priscilla?” Wesley’s voice came through, a little louder now, noticing she was no longer in view.

She came back to her senses. Without even looking at the phone, she said in a kind of flat but calm voice, “When you get back, let’s talk.”

They needed to have a real talk, not keep pretending to be a happy couple.

He didn’t love her, and they both knew it.

Wesley was silent for a beat, then agreed. “Pick me up the day after tomorrow. We’ll talk.”

Then he ended the call.

Priscilla rubbed her forehead and sighed. She didn’t want to, but she decided to go pick him up. At least that way, they’d have a chance to talk.

She had a good night’s sleep.

The next day, she hung out at Corrine’s studio.

Corrine was always busy, but she hated seeing her bestie so down. So she said, “Hey, I remember the last time you were here, someone gave you his card and wanted you to join his company. Have you thought about it?”

It hit Priscilla all at once.

Back when she was helping out at the studio, a customer who came to pick up clothes had recognized her as the for- mer R&D director of the Carlton Group. After finding out she had resigned, he was excited and gave her his card, urging her to join his company, but she had turned him down at the time.
