chapter290
She added another venomous curse for good measure.
Amelia fixed her with an icy stare. “When your brother insisted on marrying me, didn’t he know exactly what kind of person I was?”
“You… That was a family arrangement! Brendon never wanted to marry you!”
“Then tell Brendon to divorce
me.”
Amelia was truly furious today, sparing Chu Yue no courtesy. “A married woman meddling in her Parental Home’s affairs is bad enough, but poking into your brother’s marriage? Chu Yue, you’re the biggest joke here.”
Chu Yue was fuming. “You’re only riding high because you gave birth to Arlie! Without him, you’d have been thrown out long ago.”
Amelia laughed scornfully. “Of course. My Arlie is infinitely better than your useless son.”
Chu Yue:
She couldn’t withstand Amelia’s verbal assault.
Chu Yue yelled at Cecilia who was watching nearby, “Are you dead? Stop standing there! Get this lunatic away from me!”
Cecilia raised an eyebrow, unmoved.
Amelia slapped Chu Yue across the mouth. “That’s my daughter–in- law. Who are you to order her around?”
Chu Yue covered her check, stunned
Though they’d clashed before during her stay at the Carlton family physical violence was unprecedented. Besides, Chu Yue prided herself on elegance–public face–slapping was beneath her. She could only glare and stomp in frustration.
“You… you’re utterly unreasonable!”
Amelia viciously yanked Larissa’s hair, making her scream in pain again.
“She’s the elder brother’s child too, you vicious woman!”
Yvette was slapped, too scared to step forward, just cursing helplessly.
Cecilia watched with relish.
Even though she had issues with Amelia and disliked her, she still wanted to cheer her on right then.
Fakes like Yvette and Larissa need someone like Amelia to handle them.
“Stop!”
Elijah’s voice rang out as he rushed over, “Mádam, Wesley wants you all inside.”
Keep this up, and it’ll be tomorrow’s headline.
Amelia grabbed Larissa by the hair and dragged her into Wesley’s
room.
With the show over, Cecilia prepared to leave.
Unexpectedly, Elijah stopped her, “Wesley says Mrs. Carlton should
come in too“.
He blocked Cecilia, not budging an inch
Cecilia had no choice but to go back into the room.
Amelia had released her grip in the hospital room. Larissa covered her head, shrinking behind Luna with pitiful whimpers.
Luna complained, “Wesley, you need to rein in your mom. She’s completely out of control–yanking Larissa’s hair and dragging her out of the elevator in front of everyone. How disgraceful.”
Larissa choked out between sobs, “I never expected the accident. If I’d known, I’d never have asked my brother to pick me up. Aunt, I’m sorry, truly sorry.”
“Enough with the phony act,” Amelia snapped impatiently. “Shut your mouth unless you want another slap.”
Larissa instantly silenced her whimpers.
Amelia finally turned to Wesley. Seeing his injuries, her heart ached terribly. “How did this happen?”
Her gaze shifted back to Larissa, eyes blazing as if she wanted to cut her to pieces. She regretted not hitting harder earlier–should’ve landed more slaps.
Wesley rubbed his temples. “It’s not serious. Let Larissa go. Don’t give her a hard time.”
Larissa looked at him with overwhelming gratitude.
Amelia scowled. “She caused this! And you’re just letting her walk away?”
I una protested. “Wesley is Larissa’s brother Protecting his sisteri- what he should do! How is that her fault?”
Amelia’s expression darkened.
“Larissa
“I arissa is married. She has a husband. Since she can’t handle her marriage, she goes running to Wesley?”
“If anything happens to Wesley, what will happen to Cecilia and her unborn child? Should she become a young widow or just terminate the pregnancy and marry someone else?”
Amelia shot Wesley a stern look. “In your mind, is Larissa more important than Cecilia and her baby?“.
Wesley opened his mouth. “No.”
Cecilia felt a pang in her chest. Amelia’s words echoed her own thoughts.
Wesley understood this truth. Yet whenever Larissa faced trouble, he’d still rush to her rescue first.
But she wouldn’t become a widów–after all, she and Wesley had on verbally reconciled, not gotten their marriage license renewed.
Amelia shook her head, frustrated. “Then why did you dash out for Larissa in the dead of night? Seems you care nothing for Cecilia or that child.”
Larissa wiped her tears. “Aunt, please don’t scold brother. This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have reached out to him.”
Amelia wouldn’t have it. “Don’t call him brother. You’ve lost that right. Call him that again, and I’ll make sure you regret it.”
Larissa shrank back, silenced.
Chu Yue stopped in protectively. “Larissa is Wesley’s aster Him protecting her is only natural.”
She frowned at Cecilia, “If Cecilia wants to remarry Wesley, she must be generous enough to care for the whole family. Otherwise, why bring her home?”
“To fight every day?”
“Aunt, please take Larissa away.”
