The Alpha King's Reluctant Bride (Ava and Grayson) novel Chapter 114

Grayson’s POV-

I seriously do not know what your problem is, you royal asshole-

I ground my teeth in irritation, cutting Isabella off. “I am not in the mood for this today.”

With that, I ended the call, ondering why I had even bothered to answer it in the first place. After I made the decision to let Ava

go, Elaine had just shaken her head, staring at me like she could finally see the monster that everyone else had known me to be. I would admit, her look—those eyes full of judgment had hurt more than I wanted to admit. But as usual, I numbed it down, shut it out, and by the time I returned to my study, I was already too exhausted to feel anything. The glasses sat abandoned on the desk with Liam gone, and I just sank into the chair, not even knowing what to do next. So, I sat there. Staring.

How long, I didn’t know, but eventually, the ringing of my phone sliced through the suffocating silence. Isabella’s voice came through before I could even answer it, and I regretted giving her my number at that moment. The regret grew even stronger as the phone rang incessantly.

I finally picked up, my frustration and anger rolling off me in waves. “What is it that you want?”

She matched my tone, sharp and full of frustration. “Don’t yell at me, Grayson. I don’t know what the hell you’ve done again or why I’m even bothering to tell you this, but you should know that Ava just left… with a man. I don’t know where they are going.”

The growl that left me felt deep and primal, and my body tensed as if I were ready to spring into action. But I snapped, “Why didn’t you try to stop her? Isn’t she your best friend?”

“I did try to stop her,” she spat, her voice full of anger. “But she practically shoved me off and left. This is your fault, yet again. So, I suggest you get off your high horse and use your resources to find her before she does something you both will regret. Because right now, she’s drunk off her mind.”

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, and for a moment, I felt completely unmoored. My entire body was already pushing me out of my seat, ready to find her, but I forced myself to remain still. My voice came out cold, detached. “Ava is a grown woman. She can face the consequences of her actions.”

“You have got to be kidding me,” was the last thing I heard before I hung up, my anger flaring.

My wolf growled inside me, frustration building to a boiling point. And for the first time in what felt like forever, I snapped back at him. “Shut the hell up. Enough about her!”

I heard him emit a mellow groan, almost like he was backing off but I could feel his displeasure, his frustration rolling through me. I exhaled a sigh, seconds later muttering another curse under my breath. I grabbed my jacket and keys, heading out of the study without another word.

“I didn’t mean to yell at you,” I muttered under my breath. But all I could hear was silence-the kind that told me was there but was pissed off. Well, if that was what he wanted then he could join the damn list.

I dialed Isabella’s number again, but this time, she ended the call before I could even get a word in. My jaw clenched, and I tried again, then a third, fourth, and fifth time, only to have her continue to ignore my calls. I let out a frustrated breath, swallowing my pride. There was only one other person who could help me now.

I dialed Rickon. He picked up on the first ring.noveldrama

I knew you’d give in eventually,” he said with a smirk in his voice, “stop pretending like you don’t miss me.”

I ground my teeth. I would never get used to Rickon’s antics, but I ignored his comment, trying to keep my focus. “Do you know where Isabella is? The exact bar she’s at?”
