1 burst out laughing, almost smearing nail polish onto the bedspread in the process. Carefully, I tapped Isabella’s leg with the handle of the nail polish brush. “First of all, keep still, or I’m going to ruin your sheets. And second of all, does the name really have to include the word threesome?”
Isabella rolled her eyes dramatically, the corners of her mouth twitching with a grin. “What else would it have? There are
gee of them, after all. But jokes aside, Lilian, seriously. Monica, Elaine, and now Crystal? This isn’t a coincidence. There’s only one target coming out of this, and it’s you.”
Her words made my chest tighten, though I tried not to let it show. My thoughts exactly. But what could I do? I couldn’t stop the three of them from being friends. Not that I wanted to waste my energy on trying.
“You know, the problem is that you’ve been way too nice to Crystal,” Isabella continued, her tone sharpening as she wiggled her toes under my hand. “She slept with Dylan while you were still stuck in that unfortunate excuse of a marriage, and you just let her get away with it. If you’d taught her a lesson back then, she wouldn’t have had the guts to form whatever sick little alliance she has now with the Devil’s Spawn and the Queen of Bitches.”
I snorted, looking at her with an amused, incredulous stare. “Wait… are you reading my mind or something? Because that’s literally what I’ve been calling Monica and Elaine in my head.”
Isabella scrunched up her nose in mock horror. “Ew. Are we spending so much time together that we’ve started thinking the same way?”
“Considering I would never come up with something as ridiculous as ‘The Threesome Alliance of Doom,’ I think we’re safe,” I replied, laughing. “Now keep still so I can finish painting your nails. I really need to get back home.”noveldrama
“To Grayson?” She wiggled her brows suggestively.
I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face at the mention of his name. “Yes, actually.” Then I sighed, my smile fading slightly. “Things are really good with us right now. I just hope they stay that way.”
How could they not?” she said with a smirk. “The man whisked you off to Paris after you-“”
She stopped abruptly, catching herself, and I sighed. “It’s okay. I’ll get over what happened that night eventually, but… it’s going to take time. I’m sorry for the way I acted.”
After that night—the night that changed things with Grayson I had spent hours, days, weeks, trying to come to terms with it. I’d told Isabella what happened the moment I got back after apologizing endlessly for what I said to her inside the bar. As expected, she didn’t judge me. She never did. She’d been through her share of chaos and bloodshed, too, and she reminded me I had killed wolves, ultimately people on the night I first shifted.
But it had been different. Taking a life in wolf form had felt natural, almost instinctual. Doing it as a human was different— cold, deliberate. Even if I hadn’t meant to do it. Even if the man deserved it. Besides, wolves were made for that kind of stuff. It was what they did.”
“That is not what I do,” My wolf’s voice filtered through my thoughts.
“You know there is such a thing as personal boundaries.” I shot back and she let out a growl of irritation.

Isabella let on an exaggerated groan. “Lilian, are you even litening to me?”
“Not really.” I admitted, snapping back to focus. “What were you saying

“I was asking what we’re doing for your birthday next weekend,” she said, drawing out the words like I was slow to catch on
“Nothing.” I said firmly. “You know I’m not big on celebrating my birthday after.. everything that happened on my eighteenth”
