The Alpha's Forbidden Vow novel Chapter 119

POV: Cora

The human doctor was a problem.

I had known it from the moment he walked into the manor, his aura calm and analytical, his eyes missing nothing.

He was not like these wolves, who were so easily blinded by their own power and pride.

He was a man of science, of observation.

And a liar’s greatest enemy is a good observer.

Now, he was here, in my apothecary, the one place in the manor that was my sanctuary.

He had requested a private consultation.

“To ensure we are aligned on the patient’s treatment plan,” he had said, his voice polite but firm.

He stood on the other side of my workbench, his intelligent gaze sweeping over my collection of herbs, crystals, and bubbling potions.

“Fascinating,” he said, his voice a low murmur. “Your methods are… unorthodox.”

“They are effective,” I replied, my voice cool. “I am the one who cured him of the Shadowthorn, after all.”

“You stabilized him,” he corrected gently. “But you did not cure him. The memory loss, the emotional detachment—those are classic symptoms of advanced neurotoxicity. The spiritual component you describe as a ‘soul-twist’ is, from my perspective, a form of trauma-induced dissociative amnesia.”

He was translating my magic into his science. It was both infuriating and impressive.

“I need to understand the initial trauma,” he said, his gaze becoming sharp, clinical. “The night of the Mating Mark. I need you to walk me through it. Every detail.”
