Ryan picked up his phone

one and glanced at Tessa, confirming that she was asleep before sending a voice message.

His tone conveyed a loving vibe.

“But I just got back, babe. How about tomorrow?”

Chloe on the other end of the line was more direct, calling him without hesitation

“Ryan, don’t you miss me? I miss you so much. I just want to see you.”

“By the way, did the wedding dress I wore today look good?”

Ryan didn’t hesitate.

“Of course it looked great.”

Chloe continued to press him

“Who do you think looks better in that dress, Tessa or me?

Ryan paused for a second, glancing at Tessa before answering

“No one looks better than you.”

The words came out of his mouth like a sword, piercing Tessa’s heart.

He had once said that Tessa was the most beautiful and kind woman he had ever known.

Not long ago, Ryan had publicly declared in front of the pack that Tessa would be the future Luna of their pack. Everyone had cast envious glances, and even Tessa had belleved she would be happy for the rest of her life.

Now, she realized that Ryan’s proclamation of her as his mate and the future Laima was just a way to get her out of the Bloodmoon pack.

This would allow Chloe to be the only future Luna in the pack, claiming both the love of the pack and their parents. It also gave Chloe the power to control Tessa from within the pack, all while maintaining her position as Luna.

Chloe, seemingly satisfied with his response, softened her tone immediately.

Chlor’s voice was soft, and Ryan still couldn’t resist.

“Tessa is asleep now. Wait for me.

He stood up, grabbed his clothes, and prepared to leave. Before he went, he texted Tessa to cover his tracks.

“Babe, there’s a sudden matter with the pack. I need to head back. Stay home and wait for me.”

Tesso had long lost track of how many nights Ryan had lied to her

Ryan returned early that day and, seeing Tessa so busy, assumed she was preparing for the mating ceremony. He approached her and took her hand.

“Babe, you don’t need to work so hard. Once you’re my Luna, I’ll handle everything at home. You can just enjoy yourself.”

Tessa froze for a moment before slowly nodding

Becoming your Luna? That’s impossible now.

The smile on Ryan’s face made her feel exhausted just looking at it.

Before long, she received a message from the Beta of the Bloodmoon pack

Today is the day we discuss the mating ceremony with the Slivermoon pack. You both must attend.”

This wasn’t a discussion; it was a notification.

Even though Tessa didn’t want to, she had to play her part in this charade

The venue was set in a park, and the restaurant chosen was Chloe’s favorite.

Though the meeting was supposed to be about Tessa and Ryan’s upcoming mating ceremony, Chloe sat beside Ryan, wearing a white dress.

Rig and Olivia, who were sitting with them, treated Chloe with obvious favoritism. They let her sit wherever she wanted.

Compared to Tessa, the adopted daughter of the pack, Rigand Olivia were much more eager for Ryan’s Luna to be Chloe–the biological daughter of the Alpha from the neighboring pack–rather than Tessa, the orphaned adoptive daughter.

So, despite their outward politeness, they had always been cold toward Tessa.

Back then, when Tessa had fallen for Ryan, believing him to be her fated mate, she had been willing to endure the lack of affection and respect. She thought that eventually, they would come to love her.

But now, she no longer believed that. She couldn’t stand this life anymore, and she didn’t want to spend another day in it.
