Chapter 35
Chapter 35
Daisy
Attending this joint party is something I never thought I’d be able to do. Aiden didn’t even attend last year’s party because of how anxious I got at the idea. How could I face Tristian when I wasn’t strong enough? How could I stomach facing my former pack and family?
Now though? I feel ready. Nothing can stop me now, especially with Aiden by my side. I never knew I could love someone as much as I love him and yet here I am.
“Are you all ready, love?” Aiden asks leaning against the door frame as I finish up my makeup. After using our wolf forms to travel fast, we needed to get ready once we arrived. “Damn… you’re gorgeous.” He looks me over. “I almost don’t want anyone to see you.”
I giggle and turn to face him. “You’re not so bad yourself.” Aiden always looks good in anything he wears but tonight he had on a nice dress shirt and some dark leather pants. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re wanting to show off.”
As I stop in front of him, Aiden chuckles and takes my hand. “Only for you.” He kisses the back of it and grins at me. “Now let’s get going. The Alpha King and his Luna are excited to meet you. Not many Lunas get that mark after all.”
This brings a whole new set of nerves. I’m confident in my ability to face Moonlight pack and not even flinch. Everything else? I don’t want to embarrass myself or Aiden. Seeing my expression makes Aiden’s eyes soften. “You’ll do great, Daisy. Don’t stress out at all. I’ll be right by your side.”
He places a hand on my cheek and I lean into it. As I look into his eyes, I feel my nerves fade away and smile. “Thank you, Aiden. I do have a surprise for you later on. I may even tell you at the party.” I wink.
Aiden raises an eyebrow. “Now I’m curious! I can’t wait.” He says and we start to walk to the party. “You always have the best surprises… it’s never a dull moment with you.” He kisses my cheek. “Especially when we go on our moonlight runs…”
I blush brightly and huff. “You always seem to have a track mind.” I tease and poke his cheek. My surprise is something more than that and I can’t help but smile fondly. I hope he’s just as excited as I am for it.
As we approach the party, familiar scents reach my nose and I narrow my eyes. “Sky is staying away with Ebony and Zoey, right?” I squeeze his hand. I don’t want anyone to see my pup right now especially not Tristian.
“Yes, he is.” Aiden murmurs. “Don’t sweat it, love. He’s safe so… show them who’s boss!” He smiles and we enter the party.
“Entering now is the Alpha and Luna of Crimson Moon!” An Omega announces and suddenly all eyes are on Aiden and me.
“Please, just call me Xander. We’re all friends here and with your rank, you don’t need to see yourself as lower than me.” The Alpha King… no Xander tells him. “I’m sure Anna will agree too.”
His Luna smiles and nods. “Yes please, darling. Anastasia but you may call me Anna like Aiden does.” She’s a gorgeous woman with dark skin, dark brown curly hair, and striking dark blue eyes. Xander and Anna complement each other well.
“You may just call me Daisy then.” I feel myself relaxed. Why was I so nervous? Who knew the royals would be so kindhearted? Aiden shoots me an ‘I told you so’ look and I jab him with my elbow. Know it all! “I hope to be a wonderful representative of Crimson Moon alongside my mate.”
Anna nods. “Thank you, Daisy. And I believe you will be a wonderful Luna. As a bearer of the true Luna mark myself, I know better than anyone that it can be an overwhelming destiny, but with the help of your mate, you can do anything.” She looks up at Xander and smiles warmly.
I can tell they’re a loving power couple. I hope to be that with Aiden. I squeeze his hand and we exchange warm gazes. I must be the luckiest woman alive. Then the moment is interrupted by a shrill voice. “What are you doing here?!”
I turn my head and see ‘her’ pointing her finger at me. Dahlia Summers… the twin sister who hates me more than anything in the world. Her wide-eyed stare makes me smirk. Her self-absorbed attitude hasn’t changed one bit.
“You don’t belong here! A Luna? What a joke! Crimson Moon must have low standards!” Dahlia lets out a laugh and glares at me. The hatred gleaming in those blue eyes no longer hurts me.
I look down on her. “That’s right. I’m the Luna of Crimson Moon and mated to Aiden Rivers. What of it?” I ask in a bored manner. Dahlia lets out a growl but I continue. “Why is it any of your concern, Luna Dahlia? We’re not family. We have nothing to do with each other. What’s wrong?”
I look at Aiden and give him a passionate kiss. Aiden is startled at first but it only takes seconds for him to kiss me back just as passionately. When we pull away, we’re both flush and breathless. I look back to Dahlia who is staring her mouth wide open. “Are you jealous of what I have…?”
Dahlia blinks dumbly for a moment before letting out a loud snarl. Before she can move, I see Tristian step forward. His eyes are dark with anger and blood lust. “Get your hands off of ‘my’ mate you bastard.”
So it’s time. Aiden growls. “She’s not your mate, you…!” I stop him with a pat on his shoulder. He looks at me for a long moment before muttering. “Fine… this is your fight.” I nod and step forward looking down at them. It’s about time someone knocks them down a peg and wipes those arrogant looks off their faces.
