The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 297

The person on the other end blurted out, "Mr. Prescott, with all due respect, the young master of the Gallagher family is not going to marry a normal woman."

"Then break him until he agrees to!" Yves said, feeling an urge to fire his subordinate.

The man on the phone, wiping sweat from his brow, nodded frantically. "Yes, of course, Mr. Prescott. I'll break the Gallagher boy into any position you desire and deliver him to... I mean, to the sister of the woman you want to marry... your sister-in-law, right?"

"Yes! My sister-in-law!"

"Of course, of course. You have to keep the in-laws happy. I'll get on it right away. Should I start with the Shepherds or the Gallaghers?"

"Both. Simultaneously."

"Yes, sir!"

After hanging up, Yves leaned back and rubbed his forehead. "So much work."

He looked up and saw his driver, Caleb, staring at him in the rearview mirror, utterly bewildered. "Mr. Prescott, you said Miss Perkins was a divorcée with three dependents... but now you're..." He stopped short of saying, "eating your own words."

Yves gave a weary smile. "From what I know of Mrs. Prescott so far, if I asked her to be my mistress, she would agree without hesitation, no matter how humiliating. But that would only be to repay me for my help. In her heart, she sees no difference between me and Julian. We are both men who have bullied her. Her pride won't let her accept a man who has treated her that way. Not unless I can win her over again. Make her fall in love with me on her own terms."

The driver was speechless. It was a miracle. The great Mr. Prescott, caring about a woman's heart. A divorced woman, at that. With three dependents who were all walking disasters. If he ever married into that family, life would certainly be entertaining. Caleb found himself morbidly curious to see how it would all play out.

"Should we keep following... Mrs. Prescott?" the driver asked.
