The Billionaire's Regret: His Secret Wife Turned Medical Genius novel Chapter 24

Chapter 24 Slow Down

Amelia sharply snapped back, No way! Gabe doesn’t like you at all, so he can’t possibly refuse a divorce! It must’ve been you! You must’ve played some dirty trick and forced him not to!

Emily was utterly speechless. Amelia was truly something else to blame someone else for her own incompetence.

You spend so much energy on me, so why don’t you use some of that brainpower to get a real hold on Gabriel?Emily said, stepping closer and fixing Amelia with an intense gaze.

If you spent as much effort keeping him as you do barking at me, maybe he’d willingly kick me aside for you.

Amelia was so consumed by jealousy that it nearly drove her to madness. She raised her hand ready to slap Emily, but stopped short when there was a sudden sound at the door.

Gabriel walked in with bags and shoved them into her arms. She immediately put on a smiling face and sweetly said, Thank you, Gabe

Emily didn’t bother watching their little displays of affection. She turned and shut herself in her bedroom.

Later that night, Emily woke up thirsty and walked out to fetch a glass of water.

As she passed Amelia’s guest bedroom, faint, intimate sounds came from the door. A woman’s broken, tearful gasp was soft, yet rang loud and clear in the silence.

It hurtsSlow down, Gabe

The sounds became more fragmented and hushed before turning into intermittent, suggestive whimpers.

Emily’s hands holding the water glass froze before it slipped from her fingers and shattered on the floor. Still, Amelia and Gabriel in the guest bedroom seemed not to have heard a thing.

No wonder Amelia was so insistent on staying here tonight. It wasn’t to declare her place, but to use this most humiliating method and slow torture to wear Emily down, hence forcing the latter to leave.

Amelia’s disgusting, cruel tactics were truly something else.

Emily didn’t hesitate to turn around and return to her room.

At the same time, Gabriel stood by his bed in the guest room. His expression was cold as he pulled his sleeve out of Amelia’s grasp.

She was propped against the headboard, on the verge of tears. Her voice was soft and shaky as she whimpered, Don’t leave, GabeI’m scared to be alone.

His gaze stayed cold and unwavered. Call me if you need anything.

After dropping the words, he turned to leave without a hint of reluctance.

Left alone, Amelia’s mask of fragility crumbled and was replaced by seething hatred. Her nails dug into her palms, almost drawing blood.

If it weren’t for Emily, Gabriel would never treat her this way. And without Emily, Amelia could swear she would have married Gabriell.

Emily had no right to steal what was hers, and Amelia vowed to make sure Emily would never have it easy.

Gabriel walked into the living room and immediately saw the shattered mess on the floor. It was from Emily’s glass.

Something in his chest tightened. He restlessly tugged at his collar before sinking onto the couch, hoping to press down on the turmoil in his chest.

In the terrifyingly still night, a soft, hushed groan came from Emily’s bedroom. It hurts

Gabriel’s eyes snapped open. He got up and strode toward the room, where the door was slightly ajar. Without hesitation, he pushed it and entered the room.

In the moonlight seeping in through the curtains, he saw a small figure curled up on the bed. Emily was hugging her calves as her body trembled slightly, and her forehead was covered with beads of cold sweat.

Turning around, he fetched the medical kit from the drawer in the living room and applied the ointment gently onto her swollen skin.

In her dreams, Emily seemed to feel the touch of coolness, and her tightly furrowed brow
