The Bride of Endless Deaths novel Chapter 12

Chapter 2

Ethan’s colleagues stood on the shore, grinning like it was all a joke.

“Sophia, isn’t the jet ski exciting? Fun, right?”

“Wow, first time and you’re already this brave. Impressive!”

Vanessa clung to Ethan’s arm, her voice dripping with sugar.

“So, Sophia, how’s it feel? Isn’t it just thrilling?”

Ethan shot me a cold, disdainful look.

“Every company outing, it’s the same with you-too hot, too tired, never happy. Now you’ve got a chance to join in, and you’re still shrinking back. No wonder you never fit in.”

He turned to Vanessa.

“See? That’s the difference. The first time you tried jet skiing, you really went for it. Not like her, killing the

mood.”

Vanessa gave a mock-sympathetic sigh.

“Oh, she’s probably just a little timid. But that won’t do, will it? There’ll be plenty more company outing. You can’t hide in the hotel every time.”

A sharp, twisting pain knifed through my abdomen, as if someone was churning it with a blade.

Warm liquid trickled down my thigh, mingling with the seawater.

The baby kicked frantically inside me, each jolt sending my vision spinning into darkness.

I reached a trembling hand toward the shore, my voice raw and hoarse.

“Ethan, help me! I don’t know how to slow down. Which button is it?”

“My stomach hurts so bad… The baby… I’m going to lose the baby!”

My face had gone sheet-white, cold sweat soaking every inch of me.

Ethan just stood there, watching with that same mocking smirk.

Vanessa hesitated, tugging lightly at his arm.

“Maybe… we should stop? She’s pregnant. If we keep going, something bad might actually happen.”

Her words sounded like concern, but the upward twitch at the corner of her lips and the glint in her eyes betrayed the truth-she was enjoying every second.

Ethan let out a cold snort. “Now she’s scared? Should’ve thought of that earlier. She needs a lesson-to knock some sense into that head. Always acting like she’s above everyone.”

Another wave slammed into me, tossing me hard against the side of the jet ski.

A searing pain tore through me, my vision blurring to black, and I felt a rush of warm blood spilling out.

Vanessa’s eyes lit up. She clapped her hands, a cruel little smile playing on her lips.

“This is getting boring just watching. How about a game?”

She pulled a few high-powered water guns from her bag.

“Whoever hits Sophia gets a reward!”

“Hit her in the belly and you’ll get a $150 bonus.!”

Her voice rang with glee as the crowd erupted in laughter, snatching up the water guns without hesitation.
