Chapter 169
Olivia
His weight collapsed on top of me, his breath coming in harsh pants against my neck. The room smelled of sex and sweat, our bodies slick where they pressed together.
I ran my fingers through his damp hair, enjoying the heavy weight of him on me. There was something primal and satisfying about feeling his body completely spent on mine.
“Jesus,” he mumbled against my skin, pressing lazy kisses to my shoulder. “That was incredible.”
“Mmm,” I agreed, too blissed out to form proper words.
Alexander rolled off me, disposing of the condom before pulling me against his chest. His heartbeat thundered under my ear, gradually slowing as we both caught our breath.
“Your ass is going to have my handprints on it tomorrow,” he said with unmistakable pride.
I shifted, feeling the pleasant sting on my backside. “I’ll have to wear pants to the office.”
“Or you could just stay naked all day here with me.”
“Some of us have actual work to do,” I teased, poking his ribs. “Not everyone can delegate their entire job to underlings.”
“Underlings? Is that what you think I do all day? Sit at my desk while ‘underlings‘ do all the work?”
“Isn’t that the CEO handbook? Chapter one: How to look important while doing nothing?”
His fingers danced along my spine. “Maybe I should give you a proper tour of my office sometime. Show you exactly what the CEO does all day.”
“Let me guess, it involves the couch in your private office.”
“Among other surfaces,” he agreed, his hand sliding down to cup my ass. “My desk is very sturdy.”
I laughed, pushing his hand away. “You’re insatiable.”
“Only with you.” His voice softened, surprising me with its sincerity.
An unexpected warmth bloomed in my chest at his words. I propped myself up on one elbow to look at him, taking in his relaxed features and tousled hair.
“What?” he asked, noticing my scrutiny.
“Nothing. You just look… different.”
“Different how?”
I considered this, studying the way his usual sharp edges seemed softened in the dim light. “Less CEO-ish. More human.”
Alexander’s lips twitched. “I am human, you know. Despite what the board might think.”
“Could’ve fooled me. Most humans don’t have your stamina.”
“Was that a compliment, Mrs. Carter?” His hand slid up my side to cup my breast, his thumb brushing lazily over my nipple.
“Don’t let it go to your head,” I warned, trying to ignore the way my body responded to his touch. “Your ego is big enough already.”
“Among other things,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
I settled back against his chest, oddly content in the aftermath of our passion. This wasn’t just sex anymore; there was an intimacy developing between us that I hadn’t expected.
“Have you ever been to Venice?” Alexander asked suddenly, his fingers tracing abstract patterns on my back.
“Italy or California?”
“Italy.”
I shook my head. “The closest I’ve gotten to Italy is the Olive Garden.”
“We’ll have to rectify that. Venice should be our first stop in Italy.”
“Before Milan?”
“Definitely. Venice is magical. There’s nothing like waking up to the sound of water lapping against the buildings. No cars, no traffic noise. Just the quiet splash of gondolas and footsteps over little bridges.”
I glanced up at him, surprised by the poetic description. “You actually have been on vacation.”
“I told you I had.”
“But you made it sound like you spent the whole time on conference calls.”
“Not in Venice,” he said quietly. “Venice demands your full attention.”
