The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 699

Once inside the office, Brenda flicked on the lights, illuminating the cozy space filled with all the essential office gadgets.

"Since you're Cordelia's recommendation, we can skip the interview. I trust you. Just don’t let me down, okay? Add me on Messenger, and I'll send you all the job details," Brenda said, holding up her QR code for Harold to scan.

Harold settled into the swivel chair, scrolling through the job details, while Cordelia and Brenda stood nearby, chatting and laughing about names like "Jordan" and "Daisy."

Cordelia turned to Harold, "All set? If you’re good, let’s head out. You start tomorrow, sound good? I’ll figure out how to tell your mom. She’s going to find out eventually."

Speaking with the warmth of a caring older sister, Cordelia received a nod from Harold in agreement.

"Alright, you two head off. I’ve got some emails to catch up on," Brenda added.

"Sure thing, you take care of that," Cordelia replied, and she and Harold left the office.

As they walked down the hall, Cordelia, still in big-sister mode, filled Harold in on Brenda's company and encouraged him to work hard and gain valuable experience in the finance world. Harold nodded along.

When they reached the ground floor, Samantha and Grant's car pulled up just in time.

Cordelia's car was parked across the street, so they needed to cross.

...

Meanwhile, Samantha, sitting in Grant's car, spotted Harold crossing the street and her face lit up.

After a moment of shock, Cordelia snapped back to reality. She figured Samantha was using Harold to fend off Grant, but did she realize she might be dragging Harold into trouble?

Cordelia stepped forward and pushed Samantha away. "What do you think you're doing?"

"Oh, so you’re into Harold too? Going all out in public, why didn’t you say so sooner?" Samantha retorted with sarcasm, never liking Cordelia much.

"Let go of Harold. He’s not into you. Get a clue and stop bothering him," Cordelia said firmly. Then, grabbing Harold’s hand, she led him swiftly toward the parking lot.

Grant, from his car, had seen and heard everything.
